Rear Wheel Bearing Dust Cap 2014 F30 RWD

The rear wheel bearing dust cap fell off when I was swapping my winter/summer wheels on my 2014 328i (RWD). The retainer seems to have worn out and dust cap won’t stay on. I went looking for a replacement dust cap (BMW p/n 3346864028). I checked with local dealer and they advise that part has been discontinued. I also checked various on-line 3rd party parts suppliers and none seem to have it in stock. The BMW parts rep said that it probably is not needed. Has anybody else had this issue? Wondering what others may be doing.

BMW recommends NOT using that dust cap for corrosion prevention.

Damn... I didn't know this. Does everyone know this here? Ghhezzz.

I can't wait till I have the wheels off again. I just went out of my way to reinstall one of these too. The irony is strong.
