Give it a chance it's only been 10 days another 80 days or so to go...

tried them out today as I think the 4GC has them as standard? Didn't spec them anyway.

Takes a while to get going, but then even level 1 gets too hot. Can't imagine anyone needing level 3 - you'd be toasted.

Yes electric, memory and heated are standard on the 4, it was the memory and a couple of other things that made me switch from a 3 to 4.

My Mrs loves to sit there on level two, just don't know how she does it when level one used burn my arse, i haven't told her that i've re-coded the three settings to there lowest setting, still more than warm enough !!!

I'm special! Sorted it now, I'm blaming you for messing up the quoting earlier though...

Can't say I find level 1 too hot in my 4gc. It does take too long to warm up though.

The 4 standard spec is pretty generous though, and I love the memory seats.

I think electric seats are only standard on the 430, and auto + electric on 440? I know its a £945 option on my lowly 420GC

Yup, you have to option a proper car before you get them as standard

Memory+electric+heated standard on the 430d I think. Might have to be m-sport too.

Mine's not too bad to warm up, longer than my old 3. But yes the memory seats are a godsend, whenever the Mrs drove the car it would take me ages to get the seat in the right position.
Even though i now have memory seats i've found the easiest way to combat this, is just to not let her drive it !! , though might be something to do with the 20 inchers, if she can kerb a wheel on an Evoque, what chance has my poor car got !!

Yeah

Next time I'll need to check both the options minefield and the difference between models - £2.5k of options to get memory seats and auto box and both are standard on the 430 I think so that would go some way to bridging the gap in price.

I just assumed they were standard, as every car i looked at always had them on the car, but as you pointed out about the 430, i was only looking at 430's and 435's

It's true, if you go through the options vs standard spec really carefully, you do end up with almost 330d money for a similarly specced 320d. The auto sport box is a big chunk of it.

It is indeed a minefield though. Even dealers ime seem to not really understand exactly what option gives what function. And ask them too many questions about what 'connected drive' is and what features a car with it has, and they will need to take the afternoon off to figure it all out

I see the same baffling array of conflicting and confusing options on the new 3 series too. If in doubt, I have concluded that any m-sport car with a 6 cylinder engine probably has everything you need as standard. Except adaptive suspension, which I really do miss from my old F31 330d..

EDIT: Although I just checked the configurator and I see the new 330i m-sport still doesn't come with electric seats as standard

C'mon BMW, it's a £45k executive car..

I quite happily sit with the seats on 3. After around 20 minutes Generally turn it down to 2...

I do find they take their time warming up (4GC), much longer than my previous cars with leather seats. To me it seems odd, especially as the final temperature feels almost too much.
Perhaps the car is limiting the initial current flow, following engine start?

Could be. Energy management will 'clock' output to high energy consumers, if the battery/alternator demand is high. Heated seats are high on the list for limited/clocked output.

Also your likely running front and rear demisters at the same time and the ventilation heating needs to warm up.

Any chance the heater elements are in the seats already?

Hi, I have a 2015 328d wagon.
No heated seats or heated steering wheel.

Was going to take off the steering wheel to see if the element might already be present.
For the seats it would be more involved to see if the elements are present.
Has anyone done this already to save the trouble?
or
Am I wasting my time and they are definitely not there?

Thanks for the input.

You are almost certainly wasting your time, unless BMW do cars for the US market completely differently to the rest of the world.

If you have Lane Departure Warning fitted, then the wheel will have heating elements too.
Buy a lower column cover and switch, 5 minutes coding with Bimmercode and you get nice toasty hands!
