Buying advice. 2016 320i vs 2015 328i
Hi I need some help from you guys. I am planning to upgrade my 2007 e90 to a newer one but stuck between a 2016 320i and a 2015 328i.
- Used 2016 320i w Sport Package: the dealer listed it as pre-owned (non-CPO) but it come with hyper active bmw warranty until 06/2022. not sure exactly what is covered? Sport package includes M sport steering wheels and sport seat, sport suspension. Also has moonroof, Navi, light package. NO backup camera. Listed price $25k - CPO 2015 328i M-sport Xdrive. Cpo until 10/2019. Nav, backup camera, comfort access, adaptive xenons.. No sport suspension for Xdrive. Listed price $29k I like the 2015 328i better with more power, m sport bumpers, adaptive xenons, backup camera but it is 4k more with much less warranty. How do you guys think? Thanks in advance. Added: Mileage is around 25k on both Last edited by akita0507; 12-13-2017 at 05:23 PM.. |

What exactly is the hyper active warranty? I would check that out before just assuming its as good as a CPO. Probably isn't. I would try to get the 328 for $26-27k.

As someone who owned the 320 then moved onto a 335, do yourself a HUGE favor and go with the 328.

Based on your choice of words, I assume the 320i is RWD.
If so, go with the 320i sport all day. Get a real RWD sport sedan with sporty suspension and get the extra warranty. If the HP isn't enough for you, you can JB4 tune it cheaply, easily and effectively and end up with more HP than the 328 stock - just plug and play. I understand the draw of the M sport aero package, but no way would I buy an xdrive over RWD sport regardless of the model or features. Plus pay less to have a more fun car to drive with longer warranty coverage. I have driven several of these, and this is a no brainer, especially since you live in Texas. I wouldn't even consider an x-drive. Seriously, if you aren't comfortable with the choice, give both a long test drive, or find 2 equivalent models to give a thorough test drive. If it isn't obvious to you after that, get the 328i with the M-sport aero package as it does look better. But don't rush to judgement and go with the softer x model because of the front bumper.

I understand this wasn't an option you offered, but if I were you, buying used, I would keep looking for a RWD 328i M sport. They should be out there in that mileage and that price. Then you don't have to compromise either way.
I am helping my brother-in-law buy the exact same spec right now, although a little older.

Neither. I concur with metallicpea. If it were me, both those care are compromises. Do you need X-Drive? Probably not in Houston. So the 328i is out. However, unless you tune that 320i, it's not going to have then power you want.
Look for a 2015 328i RWD or 2016 330i RWD. Be patient, don't settle. There are THOUSANDS of cars out there, you'll find it.

If I had to be those 2 cars (why does it?) I would get the 320 purely for the suspension, seats, steering wheel etc. 328i with X Drive and base suspension pre-LCI is kind of a bummer. But you'll be underwhelmed with power and engine sound in the 320, coming from the E90. You can always tune it though and it'll be faster tuned than your E90.
I would just get a different 328i. Why does it have to be those 2 cars. So I guess my answer is neither.

I bought my 2014 328i with 29k on it. Decently optioned for $21k in October (for price reference). One lease car from SF. "Perfect" condition.

It's value is more like 18k, but yes, they drop in a hurry.
I bought my 550i 3.5 years old with an original sticker of over 72k for 32k with 50k on the clock. Rediculous. Drove it for 4 years and another 50k and got 15k back. |
