Still, not complaining as I got over £27K for it when I sold it to them.
My Golf 7.5 R that I sold for a good price a few weeks ago is still going up and up. WBAC are now saying its worth £28K which is more than I got for it through Motorway.

Surely they can't keep going up?

No, at some stage they will correct. The question is.... this year, next year, the year after? If you are a dealer left holding lots of overpriced stock then it will hurt....

Stock is moving so fast dealers won't get stuck with much, they'll see the price drops first. It's crazy that people are willing to pay such high prices. I've got 1 more week till I sell mine.

Well according to their website, lookers have 8111 cars in stock, if each dropped £500 they lose over £4m ....

They can’t not have stock as people need stuff to buy, but they don’t want it during a correction...

Just had a wee look on WBAC. Wife's X3 goes back soon. Current settlement figure is £19.5k. WBAC offering £23.2k (but appreciate that will be reduced!).

May actually look in 4 weeks time to see if these figures are still as strong. Even if it's just £1k you make - better than handing it back!

Also looked at my M40. They are quoting £35k. Settlement is £28k.

Even with the over inflated WBAC valuation...strange times!!!

Dealers will sell whatever they can at these higher values and then, if there is a pop, will offload stuff asap.. turnover is what they need to keep the overheads paid off every month...

I am not so sure it is selling fast... My car has been up for a week now and has not gone yet... and to be fair, it is very low mileage and high spec, in a car that seems well, so you'd imagine it might have been snapped up...

Absolutely insane.

Taking rejected car into account £11k of my £15k deposit in 2019 is there to be had back. Again, insane.
Another £1200 added to WBAC's offer today

Honestly, if mine goes up another £1250 I will sell it. That will take my depreciation for 7 months and 3500 mikes to £1k. I will manage with the Mini until things are more sensible....

I was talking to a small dealer near us this weekend. Mrs Rukka is in the market for a 2 series but a specific colour (Orange) and specific spec. Dealer had one on the forecourt that we looked at 3 weeks ago that was listed at £15k - now it's at £16k! I asked him how come and he replied that they just can't get the stock and all cars on the lot would be going up by another £1k this week! Crazy crazy times.

I ran the X4 by WBAC just out of interest 4 weeks ago - today it is up £5k on that figure!!!!

I'd be sorely tempted, Ian, although I thought you liked your Audi? i certainly do
Funnily enough, the WBAC valuation for my humble Golf has actually fallen this week - by £400. Their prices are very time sensitive, based on the spot auction price for the specific make/model that week. I'll try again in a week's time. In the meantime, I've just got to find a daily driver replacement car that I actually like!? Have now tested a V60, an XE and a Focus and have a Mazda 3 test today.

Oh I do, but let’s be honest, it’s nice to have a change and I don’t actually need it.... I would be more than happy to keep it the full 4 years or longer but if you can drive it for 7 months for less than £200 a month, and then try something else, well why wouldn’t you?

Did I miss feedback on the V60? And the focus?

Why wouldn't you indeed..

I liked the V60. Comfortable, well built, good looking and refined with the 250hp petrol. It felt big and heavy though, having got used to the Golf. I prefer smaller cars for the time being. As for the Focus? It drove predictably well with the 150+hp ecoboost engine and manual box. I say predictably as we have had a Ford in the family for decades. It's an odd looking car though close up in the metal. Creases and bulges everywhere. I prefer the previous generation, and the interior is a bit low rent, tbh.

I think you are right on both fronts, the Focus is a bit low rent inside and looks only a mother could love, but it drives well. The Volvo is a great looking, comfy cruiser, but you wouldnt buy it for fun...

I reckon you need a Skoda Enyaq.....

Yep, I had a deal lined up on an X3m that got pulled by the dealer, which they knew would mean I would go elsewhere, it was basically a done deal.

I've been tracking cars on Autotrader, a car that had £15k discount 1 week ago now has zero discount, and a number of new cars that rise in price on a weekly basis.

It's crazy out there at the moment and I think it will cool but can still see it taking 12 - 24 months to balance out. God knows what the next quarter deals will be! Finance won't be at 2.9% I'm certain!

It will be interesting which cracks first, the inexorable rise in house prices or car prices. Or the end of furlough and the bad weather of autumn and winter....

Asked the son in law to get me a price for a friend - it was a short answer "list"..... no discounts on some brands at all, and much reduced on others.....

Interesting today, at the dealers...

Whilst the prices being offered to private owners for their cars is going up still (it seems) they were out knocking off a few hundred here and there from their sticker prices on cars on the lot... I can only wonder if the rush to buy stock at these inflated prices is not being matched by the public's will to buy it once it is on the lots of the UK... At the end of the day, these folk still need to move the volume to meet the overheads...

Not sure this is sustainable for much longer...
