Experience with 10.25" android 7.1 HU's

Got it installed on holiday

Used my mobile phone to download and via the unit I got it on a USB stick.

Now testing it on soms of the most rediculous roads of italy (im schakelt on a mountaintop in Tuscany)

@druw - have you managed to update the CarType.xml? Whatever I try, I cannot get the OS to update it... I'm using USB (Fat32) and placing it in OEM/CarType.xml (case sensitive). Any suggestions? Also I can't root this thing so no placing it directly in the 0/ folders...

Well it worked for me simply having the files in the /OEM folder of nu USB stick.... nothing special...
Sure you got.the correct files?
I cant access the files now for you but you can ask Louie for the.latest ones I guess.
Do you have issues.that need you to.update them?
Of it works, it works....

I got the .xml from XDA and complied it myself, perhaps that's the issue? When you get time, and if you have it, would you mind PM your CarType.xml over?

@everyone - has anyone figured out a way to disable the auto brightness feature when headlights are on? surely this is a software switch rather than a hardware function?

Mine is now up and running! I'm seeing faster boot time, auto connecting WiFi and better flow In nav apps!

It is also booting into android instead of idrive!

However if I'm running an app in the background my unit seems to kill that app after a little while, annoying!

Hi, can you please clarify which advanced menu? I didnt find any option in bmw navigation settings...

If thats ok, its most likely the connection on the screen and thats just 6 screws...
Ive removed the unit probably about 10 times now.
First the avin, then the ugode...

Yesterday, I experienced my first "no signal" with my device, after 1 month of usage. It was due I left the parking lights all night. In the morning when I switched on the engine I got "no signal" with no other options. BMW menu worked fine.

I found interessting Code in package com.szchoiceway.eventcenter

It seems like the unit is writing a crash log to "/storage/emulated/0/log/"
fileName = "crash-[date].log"

Can you guys check with ES File Explorer, if you have crash log files in above path?
Can't do it myself until thursday...

A crash log file can help to find the cause for "No Signal" issue!

I have fiberless harnes (no fibre cables duh!) and it works like a charm

I know the avin things fit 100% but I dont want to sponsor them and they are made in China anyway so they should be available via Ali or eBay as well you would guess...
Had a no signaal issue yesterday the same way i had it.with the old software. Also DAB is killed and gmaps froze on me.
No inprovenents I can really see compared to the prev version other than minor speed improvement in waze and boottime (but even thats just a feeling...)

So I made a service , named it as one of the whitelisted packages, so it doesn't get killed. That works.
But then when trying to kill the "head unit app killer" i cant succeed.
It's a system service so there is no way an user app can kill it.
That sucks a lot.
I cant run a radar detector in the background... no youtube music, no tasker...

If someone interested, I sell this unit. Can ship to europe cheap.
(I have not had no signal issues, only a couple times in 2 months, when i first installed, probably due to me not tightening the connectors). 350€ + shipping is okay.

He is willing to send me the part of the main menu so I can try to change it.

Im the opposite
screen provided for 2016-2017 is too big which to be fair is a plus I can cut to my own liking when I'll take it out to install gps splitter

Avin's screen protectors do fit 100%, but they really don't do much in terms of cutting down the glare- I had one on for a few days then took it off.

Ok, this will be a stupid question but here goes.... did you guys have anything on the screen out of the box?
I have no glare issues but im wondering if there is a plastic film over the screen... if there is, I dont want to remove it while checking...
Any idea?
