Good question. Other than Chevron, the other top tiers used on my car(Costco, Shell, 76) do produce valve noise(?) after 5000-6000 miles, and a bottle of Techron FSC takes care of that.

Seems the USA market has a different approved product (a relabelled Techron product), compared to the one BMW provide in other markets like the UK.

Our UK gasoline product is P/N 83192183738; comes in a tin with plastic spout. The UK product is stated to be an advanced BASF additive.

I exclusively use the highest octane, top tier fuel available. Currently 91 (Cali) and 76 (corner of street)...

I still run a bottle of Techron through -somewhere between 4-5k (oil change interval) before service. Not expecting much overall to be honest but for under $10, I include in my oil service routine which in total costs me only about $50.

I've been using Techtron in my 2015 MB 350 ML and the 2016 228i coupe and all my previous MB and BMWs.....been using Techtron since the Volvo Service Dept suggested it for my old 1991 940 turbo...the Benz dealership recommends it too.

I bought a 2 year old used car so not sure what fuel grades were used, just want to use myself once.

I don't know if you're in Reading UK or PA here in the US. In the US, Advance Auto often has a buy one/get one free deal on it. Walmart also carries it.

That Advance Auto deal sounds killer, Ill be on the lookout.
