What's up with people who seem to go out of their way to park right next to you?
I've had the car for 2 months and there's already a lot of scuffs on the side from people who choose to park right up next to me... and even when I go out of my way to park in the furthest areas, I'll come back and find someone who ignored every single spot except the one right next to me. Happened this evening again How do i get the scuffs out? Had my camry for years and not one scuff... why do people hate people who drive beemers? I dont get waved into merging lanes anymore...

How did those scuff marks get onto your car from someone being parked beside you? Are they door dings?
Yeah, it can't be avoided. I just got hit in the parking lot two weeks ago. Looks like someone backed into me while I was parked and took off. Now I have two paint chips on the lower part of the bumper. I do notice that a lot of other BMWs like to park beside me. I guess they probably know that as another BMW owner, I'd respect their own just as I would with mine. |

Seriously! I went to Fry's Electronics, parked far away from the entrance, not a car for 5 spaces to either side...come back out and an old, beat up Camry is parked in the space right next to me. WTF? He could have parked anywhere.

Just don't park across two spaces or in any other way that portends you believe you are important. |

Yea, I know all the tricks. Look for spaces at the very ends which sometimes have oversized parking spaces. Park very close to the curb and farthest away from the neighboring space. Park a mile away from everyone else (a benefit is good exercise). Sometimes overlap your neighboring space but make it look like an accident (only do this when you're a mile away from everyone else). There are tricks to strategically park your car without saying "I'm a jerk" to everyone else.

The dings can be avoided but sometimes it requires substantial inconvenience. I have not had a door ding in the last 20 years - but it requires a lot of walking and effort ........

After I my F30 got hit in the parking lot a few weeks back, I now parking the furthest possible. If it takes me three minutes to walk to wherever I need to go, that's what I'll do.
If it's an underground garage, I try to find a spot where there's a pillar and a wall so that no one can even back into me. I'll even go as far as opening my door all the way to make sure that it won't touch the car beside me. |

No different than when you go to take a piss in a public bathroom where there are like 20 empty urinals and some jackass has to come and piss right next to you, completely ignoring the one stall/urinal gap rule. Some people just like to invade others personal space.

Sometimes I do this, but only so nobody hits the car I'm parking next to. If I see a modded 335i or M3, I'll park next to because I know I'm not going to hit it. Sadly, most of the times when people park next to me they are horrible at parking and just being mindless chickens

The other day I was pleasantly surprised when doing groceries. I parked in between two other BMW's and when I walked away from my car, I noticed one of them leaving... when I came back to my car a little while later, I noticed there were two different BMW's on both sides of my car.. for some reason it attracts, I think many people think the same like we do (as in, we respect our cars and I'm sure they do too) Of course, it also happens that there are people who don't look out or simply don't care.. I received a nasty ding a couple of weeks ago just above my passenger side rear wheel, I didn't have chance to fix it yet (laziness lol) but so far the lowest quote to fix it came out to $175... Sucks terribly but I do want to fix it because it takes away the good looks of my car (Oh, and I suspect I know what car did this... I was parked in an end stall and the other side was a small white truck.. there was a LOT of space in between the two cars but somehow after that time I did have the ding... almost seem as they did it on purpose, it wouldn't surprise me anyways..)

I once parked at the end of a parking lot with no cars for several rows inbetween and came back to see a brand new Audi a4 right next To my m3. I understood why.
One other instance I did the same thing, no cars for several rows and found a piece of shit 2 decade old Chevy next to me. That, I did not understand. |
