Suggestion on indie shop for alignment in Chicago burbs

Hey all, there are enough Chicago members on this board, I figured I would ask if anyone has a referral for a good shop to do a simple alignment. I got my winter wheels put on, and I feel like my car is pulling right. It doesn't feel like a balance issue but more in alignment issue.

I was thinking about getting an alignment, but do you guys think I should take it back to discount tire and see if it's a balancing issue. There is no rumble or vibration... And my car was dead straight before the change of tires.

Thoughts? Thanks

Definitely take the car back and have them check out the wheels. And not sure if they still have it going on but I purchased a lifetime alignment and tire rotation package at Firestone Tires. It was like $179 for as long as you own the car. No limits you can come once a week if you want.

Swapping new wheels and tires should not effect the alignment in any way. Check to make sure all 4 tires were mounted in the right direction (if they are directional).

Do you know if they align lowered cars? Not sure if the parameters need to be changed once lowered.

That I'm not sure about. I have the lifetime alignment purchased for my MDX not the 435i. But I did recently get a set of Continental DWS 06 installed at Discount tire and had no issues at all after install so I'd start there I guess. Good luck.

I agree. I think it's a balance issue., not sure if dws06 are directional or not. I don't think they are. I will check. I wanted to give it a few hundred miles to see if it just needed to break in, but no dice, still the same

Balance doesn't really cause a pull. It will be noticed with a shake or vibration usually at medium or higher speeds.

DWS06 is assymetrical. Make sure all 4 tires read "outside" on the outer sidewall.

BTW, these are not winter tires. Is there any reason you went with a winter wheel set-up and didn't go with snow and ice tires? Seems like you are missing a perfect opportunity.

Long story but... bottom line is car is leased, summer tires are gonna run out of tread at the rate I drive, I hated my winter tires last year and I have Xdrive...

So, my logic, maybe it's flawed, given the lack of real snow days and my awd, I can run these into spring and early in fall, still use my summer tires and have enough tread to return them. Essentially I hedged in order to not have to buy new summer tires...

I had the WORST winter tires last year. Made a mistak on them, hated them so much, I won't use them again, and largely unneeded. So that was my logic. Feel free to tell my why I was wrong haha

Plus I have always had all season for the winters up until last year...granted it's not ideal, it worked in my very specific situation

They're some of the "best bang for the buck" A/S tires...

I see where you are coming from.

Did you get the x-drive for drag strip traction or winter traction?

Which winters did you have last year and what didn't you like about them?

Winter traction...

Blizzack mz-02. Many people think they are great, but I don't like them.

I'm not familiar with that model Blizzak. Had several others, but not MZ series ever. What didn't you like about them?

Let me know how the all seasons do in the bad weather this winter. I am curious to hear what you think.

They are run flats. So they have a specific market, that I thought I was in... turns out I'm not. They plowed through snow like nobodies business, but for the other 150 days, they were lacking...

Just harsh, rough, loud. But again, they served thme inter purpose, and if I lived in buffalo, or Alaska, great tire.

Two wheels were out of balance... re-balanced and is much better. Car was squirrelly whereas before the tire change was dead straight and solid.

I will post my impressions about the tires in a few weeks
