f80,f82 M4/M3 Brakes installed on a 440i

Hello just wanted to share something I recently put together. Also the last thread I saw discussing this had a lot of people doubting it would fit.

The calipers are custom painted Protonic Blue metallic and they bolt right on!
Rotors are from StopTech and they are made for this exact purpose. The front rotor is a 370mm and the rear is a 345mm.

Note* Apparently m3 and m4 rotors will not fit because they use a different wheel hub.

Front and real calipers are from an M4.
Rotors are made for the 340i and 440i but are 370mm which fits the M4 caliper.

Is there anything better looking than a great brake setup behind a great wheel?

What's the butt dyno say?

Looks good Ghost440 ,

Do the Stoptech rotors make the same "fluttering/ticking" noise as the M-performance brake (dimpled/slotted) rotors.

Thanks

Just FYI the F8x and F3x 6cyl msport calipers are the same. So you essentially have just a msport package with stoptech rotors.

I was going to say… looks lovely but it's just the M Sport Plus brakes which were an optional extra from factory. Only different on M brakes is the slightly larger rotor

Looks good! Very close to factory blue m brakes. Where were you able to purchase the calipers for and how much?

I upgraded from base brakes to similar rotors and calipers on my 430i (M Sport is smaller on that car). These brakes are great

The only problem I have is that the Hawk 5.0 pads squeak/squeal when they get warm and nothing I've done stops it. I'm looking for a quieter ceramic pad.

I put together a thread on it:

Who told you that bullshit that m3/m4 rotors wont fit... they fit without work to them.. to any F3* platform car, just the rears youll need the larger diameter handbrake for.. which 90% of the F3* have!

Here ya go! front and rear full m3/m4 setup with oem discs

rear!

The front M3/M4 rotors are 380MM (Centric / Stop-Tech lists a few 370MM replacement rotors - maybe this is year-specific). The front 335i/340i/435i/440i M-Sport rotors, and the rotors in the M-Performance upgrade, are 370MM. All use the same front calipers (different colors for M-Performance).

The difference in the front is the location of the bolt holes on the steering knuckle. On the M3/M4, they're offset 5MM farther away from the center.

I don't know if there's a difference in the rear, other than the mentioned parking brake.

M3/M4 rotors will fit any f3* plug play on the front , rear only if you have the bigger diameter handbrake.

That a 340mm or 370mm msport or mperformance caliper will not fit straight away icw the m3/m4 discs is another story

You both are saying the same thing. The 380 rotor will fit any f30 car, in that it will bolt on the same way with no modifications. However with that being given, the caliper (Mperformance/StockM3) needs needs to be located correctly to secure it to the knuckle.

Belong did that with an adapter. BMW did that by altering the knuckle for the m3. Two solutions to the same problem. I bet that option was cheapest for BMW than buying two separate castings from Brembo.

There is no 380 caliper... there is a 340mm caliper and a 370mm one.. the 370 is mperformance and at the same time the M3/M4 one, the knuckle is what makes the 10 mm difference on the m3/m4 not the caliper.

With adapters you can fit both the 340 or 370 ( both need different adapters ) calipers to the F3* knuckle and a 380mm M3/M4 disc.

O.P was stating the M3/M4 discs dont fit..here

but thats a straight fit.... calipers is a different story... but rotors are discs in my book and not calipers..

Yes 40mm to 44mm pistons. I went through a caliper rebuild/powdercoated and found this put the hard way
