Willing to install the MPPSK on my 440xi this summer, but i've just read it's toned down a bit in terms of sound. Such a shame, because that was the main thing i wanted it for.
Is it possible to get the MPPSK and have a "older" software version installed? Like before the modifications for EU laws or w/e ? |

1. Whether it has been muted is (still) rather a speculation. Whether, when, where and to what extent - is unclear. Sound (acoustics) is a funny thing. It depends on a number of factors, including but not limited to fuel quality, ambient temperature, maturity, user.
2. No, it is not. The software is programmed by the official workshops after a live download from München. All they get in advance is a code for downloading the latest available (suitable... may be regionally suitable) software.

MPPSK is a product exclusively for B58 (x40i).

Gents,
New to bimmerpost and got sucked into reading every single post in this thread while trying to find out more on MPPSK. Most enlightening.. Cheers for that! From Melbourne, AUS and own a Mineral Gray 2017 F32 440i with M Sport Pack. The biggest dealer here has only done 3 MPPSKs so far! Couldn't believe it. Well, it worked out well as I wouldn't have found this thread if they had shown experience or confidence. 😎 After a lot of thought and savings, getting it done in August with: MPPSK with Carbon Fibre Tips Black Lip Spoilers Back Kidney Grills Side Skirts and M Perfomance Pedals Its never cheap in AUS - whopping $8900 AUD after a good deal of bargaining. Will share Some pics post install. Cheers |

I know they're clamping down on this stuff now, the Mercedes AMG C43 had the sport exhaust fitted as standard in 18 and now they've taken it off again. |

However, mine developed a loud clanging noise, like the valves were loose or someone had thrown some tent poles up the pipe. I took it in under warranty and they fiddled around with it, I think they ended up putting the older map back on. Because now it is very loud and will give big gun shots on over run. It's actually quite embarrassing in many situations and scares the shit out of people in tunnels. |

They cannot put the old map back in even if the wanted to. This would also mean you'd lose the 10% power and torque gain.

I want to spray my stainless steel tips black, how are they removed?
I had a quick peak noticed a nut and a torx looking hole. But I read someone said it was a 5mm Allen key |

Of course it is technically possible! But not available as an option to the official dealerships! It is either a new version or no update. As the OS of your phone.

Yes, it will fit as long as you are not driving an F34.
On sound - definitely! On performance - close to 0. Don't know how much it matters where you are, but be advised that the exhaust has no BMW technical approval for use without the tune.

It could.
Ask your dealership to make sure. In EU you could be grounded as you would void the technical approval of the vehicle. Alternatively you would need to go through a process to have the exhaust without the tune approved. BMW have only issued a technical approval for the MPPSK as a complete set.

I would say there would be a minimal improvement in efficiency, and you wouldn't notice any power improvement.

Ordered my mppsk kit which will be installed next week. So excited and can't wait.
I need to figure out how to get the stock exhaust back home. Is it one or two piece? |

I would ask them to drop it off. The dealerships around here I talked to will drop off the parts after the fact using their parts van as part of the service. It is easier for them than wrapping and trying to put into your vehicle as the pipes and muffler are large, dirty and cumbersome.
