Android Auto on the Avin 10.25 Android 8.1 display

Hey yall!

I have had a bunch of questions about Android Auto on the new display so I wanted to share what it looks like so far. I shot a quick video and wanted to share.

Thanks!

Nice,

I found a few bugs in the Skin software in your movie, ab 1:06s All text and buttons on the right side of the screen are cuts and go outside the visible area. It does not look good. This need to be fixed with software update in the future. I have my device from a different brand and I will check these bugs this week after installation. May be all cuts are visible only in your film (angle of the position of the recording camera). Can You check it?

Also in AndroidAuto Mode all graphics are horizontal stretch, all icons looks not so good.
Can You also test Apple CarPlay Mode?

Thanks

I haven't done Apple Carplay with this display yet, as I dont have easy access to an iPhone. Also yes, at 1:06, that is the angle of my camera not the display itself. Thank you for pointing that out so I can let folks know that isnt a display problem, just where I had the camera hung off my sun roof.

How is the sound quality ? play my music using the BT in my HK system and it sound great. I bought a carplay system in AliExpress and the sound was terrible( it has to use the aux port) thats why i took it away. I would like to buy the new Avin system but i red a lot of bad review of the olders avins about the poor sound quality. Does the sound quality of the new avin is like the OEM BT

I can only report my experience and haven't had any issues. installed one for another guy, had bad audio.. we traced it to his aux port being bad. Talked with another guy who had to run the aux cable and had a bad cable.

I don't have to run the aux, which is nice.

I'm really interested in this for my car too but I'm so worried so many things too

Mainly the sound I'm a sound recording engineer so I'm very picky when it comes down to listening to my music

I love the ay my HK sound now but everyone always talks about this system having a very bad sound

And all these other bad reviews

If I do purchase one witch one is the best to go to have zero issues

I hear you and will just relate my experiences thus far. i have the bimmertech speaker upgrades as well, and appreciate (and expect) quality sound. I haven't had any sound quality issues from my display, and the 8.1 is great so far. I have also worked with a ton of folks helping there install, and installed a bunch in other cars. I have encountered issues before, but resolved them all with things like a bad aux port, sketchy aux cable or even a bad splitter on one.

So.. I am happy with the product, that has been my experience.

Is the Android Auto content stretched because it displays with your phones aspect ratio but gets stretched to the display horizontally to fill the screen? I personally hate this; it's the main reason I'm avoiding all the standalone MMI solutions that are available today.

I had some great info commented on the video how to put Android Auto into dev mode, then enable higher resolutions. I have done so but not had a chance to test yet, and see if it looks any different to the display.

Does the upgrade also give better audio quality?
Base HiFi audio is utter garbage.
Almost unacceptable for a "luxury" car.

So this change isnt going to do really anything to improve your base audio. What you are chasing there is amp, speakers and audio balance issues.

Changing the speakers will make a huge difference, and I installed the Bimmertech Alpha 1s, changing from my HKs

I also recently changed my "L7" settings to the Bang and Olufson (as per another thread here) using bimmercode and it made a HUUUUUUGE difference.

You have some options here, but this display wont address fundamental sound concerns, that isnt what this does.
