2nd service prices

Hi all my 430d vert is due it’s 2nd service.

Got a quote for an oil service, particulate filter, and fuel filter.

£590! Rather shocked at the price of a service at 30k I expected 400/450 but not just shy of 600 quid.

What’s the going rate?

I believe your guesstimate is the ballpark figure, I paid 460 last spring.
I looked at the prices of the parts and found you could buy genuine with Castrol Edge oil for circa £120 (IIRC).
Shocking mark up whatever way you look at it IMO. The value servicing for older vehicles shows that they recognise it (to a degree...).

That’s what I’m thinking! I know it has an effect on potential good will offers on warranty work but I’m rather shocked at the cost for what is not really allot of work.

I might call a couple of other dealerships and see what they price. It’s due in around 1000 miles so have a little time to shop around.

Would that have any warranty impact?

My 335d has just had its 2nd service and I was quoted the cost would be £519 if I did not have the service pack. Lucky to have the 5yr plan that cost £500.

A local BMW specialist quoted me £350, so armed with that I managed to get Coopers down to £400, but probably because I’m on first name terms with one of the service staff.

You can save at least £100 by supplying your own oil !

So I’ve done some research and found a recommended bmw specialist.

For the same service as bmw quoted £351 with the VAT....a large difference!

Garage List
Yeah, been quoted £311+VAT for oil and microfilter change on a 2014 530dGT, plus £69+VAT for a break fluid change.

Local indy (who can update the idrive history as well) is charging me £240.

With it all being electronic and no service book these days can they tell if a non bmw dealer has done the service if the idrive is updated by an Indy?

And if so how?

So an update on the service side of things my car is in for a rapair from the accident my wife had last week at my local main dealer they obviously said oh it’s due a service and advised they can carry it out for 600. Told them that’s an crazy amount for a glorified oil change and that I had a quote for almost half that. Managed to get it down to £400 all in, madness to think they can knock off that much with out too much negotiation!
