EGR delete? and FLASH

***I didn't want to hijack the EGR recall thread...***

My car acted really weird yesterday. It had NO power. I know the sport displays are worthless for the most part, but normally if I get on it, they will max out. But when I left a light, the car fell flat on it's face. The sport displays showed 60hp and 160tq. That's the MOST I could get the car to raise. I'm guessing it's the limp mode you get from the EGR failing. I've already had mine replaced once. No codes are being thrown.

I'm about this close to doing an EGR delete. Any of you gone that route yet? I found a guy out of Europe that sells a nice kit for fairly cheap. He actually has a state side distro. I'm probably going to pull the trigger. Maybe there are other vendors...don't know. But his was really nice, and he has a 100% satisfaction rating showing like 2K+ transactions.

Plus if I can get some ear time with ENABLE, I want to flash my ECU. Otherwise I'm going to do a stage II from AARODGRIGUEZ.

I want to do the DPF/SCR delete, but not sure if I would be able to pass the emissions test even if I put the stock exhaust back on, if the computer has the DEF turned off. Gotta research that part more.

Pause.
I wouldn't do anything until you scan it for codes. Limp mode like that is generally not from egr. It could be from hundreds of other things. Never tune a car with problems.

I received your PM and will reply.

Sorry...bad choice of verbiage maybe. I read somewhere recently that when the EGR goes south, the computer will go into a reduced power limp mode. And that is exactly what happened. I had it in sport+ mode, and normally eco pro has more power.
Today the car is back to it's spirited self.

My buddy has a code reader. I will see if there are any codes indicated. There is no CEL or anything. Nor was there yesterday.

There will be codes. Ideally read BMW manufacturer codes. P codes are vague at best.
Send me/post those first, and I can help.

Limp mode can be for a bunch of things.

EGR removal is the best thing you can do for a cars health. EGR and DPF are automotive cancers in todays age.

My 335d is still under warranty so Im patiently waiting, and after that egr and dpf are coming out.

My old 535d had it done and car ran like a dream whilst in my ownership for 60k+ miles.

The oil alone maintaned the gold colour for its full 10k service intervals, which is unheard for diesels. It just goes to show you what type of carbon junk gets in past the egr.

I am from a country where exhaust emissions are not tested.
Did a EGR delete and had no problems with codes or anything related to that.
Just recon my engine is running cleaner now.
