I paid 1250 shipped for my yellow m perf setup + $160 for the pair of rear rotors.

$2600 seems high.

Where did you find them at that price? I have been on the lookout for a good price on the kit.

1250 + 160 seems insanely low! Where did you get them at that price?

i got them from a vendor on ebay in May of 2017. This was the yellow calipers and drilled / slotted front rotors, pads for front and rear & sensors.

The rear rotors i bought were zimmermans, but they function the same. They are blanks as well. Im sure the true OE ones are double that but honestly the drilled and slotted make alot of noise.

This was the vendor, the price is up to 1650$.

I also managed to install mine in 4 hours with coding. I just paid for a lift rental which costed me $80 for the 4 hours. Very easy DIY.

Ah that's the same seller I bought mine from recently. Still waiting for them to ship since I wanted orange and they didn't have them in stock yet. Planning to do the install myself along with my coilovers at the same time.

Before & after photos attached.

I also supplied StopTech Stainless Steel brake lines. I figured why not. The dealer was happy to install them (for a charge of course).

The dealer said they didn't do a lot of the M Perf brake upgrades, but the senior tech seemed to know all details about it. They did a good job too - my only gripe is when they did the coding, they basically reset everything, so today I have to go in with the Bimmercode app and re-apply all my own codings.

I drove about 20 city miles in stop and go traffic before I could "bed" in the brakes. And the brakes definitely improved a lot in just 5 miles. By the time I had driven about 60 miles out of the city to a country road, I'm not sure the brakes really needed bedding in. Regardless, I had some fun increasing the speed and stopping moderate to hard, and working up to 65 mph full brake slams. The limiting factor was the traction - 30*F temps with freezing drizzle, so half the time the ABS kicked in. But when the ABS was not active, the brakes were amazing, and I couldn't tell any fade (but with 30*F temps and speeds of only 65 mph...).

There's a thread that goes back to 2014 about how the M Performance pads are awful and even the Turner motorsport page talks about how most think the pads suck. I think maybe in the last 5 years BMW must have changed the pads, because I think the M Performance pads are awesome. I have no idea why anyone would complain about these pads.

Compared to the stock 340i pads, the very initial bite is different. I think the stock brakes take less pedal travel for the initial bite - sort of like when you set your computer mouse to super sensitive so that the mouse cursor moves with crazy speed. The M Performance brakes do take slightly more pedal travel for the initial bite, but the advantage is that you have more feel and control and it is easier to modulate - so you're not unexpectedly jerking your passengers around with every stop. As you press further into the pedal, you continue to have more control - very slight adjustments of the foot will change the brake pressure slightly - the stock brakes were not so precise. My overall impression of the M Performance brakes is that are they like Brakes HD. Very smooth, very precise, very controlled.

Brake dust... Two days after a car wash my wheels are dusty anyway, because the world is a terribly dusty place. With the winter grime on my wheels, I can't discern any more brake dust with these pads than previously, but I'll keep a lookout. Though honestly I really don't care.

Looks wise, the new brakes really pop. The red calipers stand out against the black & white of my car. The bigger rotors make a difference too esp. the rear rotor.

So I'm running out of upgrades. My lowered 340i has the MPPSK and now the MPBBK. "Both pedals are upgraded." What's left?? Cold air intake? I guess I could go with full coilovers at some point. I suppose my next upgrade will be the M3 in about 100,000 miles.
How is the experience with m performance brakes now? Do you experience any sound from the rotors?

in normal day to day driving i have not noticed any rotor noise. there is very little squeal when the brakes are cold. given the snow and winter grime i cannot notice extra brake dust.

absolutely love the brakes. great upgrade.

Was also looking at buying the kit from that seller. Are they a BMW dealership? Or a third party who just happens to have lots of them?

I think they're a BMW dealership. My invoice came from Roadshow BMW and I received an official invoice from them when I opened up my boxes with my bbk

Since you have the mppsk before the brakes installed, did they mess with the mppsk coding since they reseted the system and coding was required?

That's not how coding works. It wouldn't break any existing things.

Did you ever contact them via eBay.

I've sent 3 messages in the last week and no reply, so has put doubt in my head about them.

My primary contact with them was through ebay. They responded super quickly and always within a day.

My local dealership (Seattle area) is quoting me $2243+tax for labor only to install the m perf brake kit. They want $5999+tax for parts and labor. I can source the parts for about $2500, but the install cost seems high, no? Thoughts on alternatives where I can still preserve warranty on the brakes?

Parts are about $1,650 if you buy from Ebay. I would install them yourself. Not sure how that would destroy a warranty unless you install them completely wrong.

That's like 16 hours in labor, yeeeah.......nope. I would dump that dealership, it's obvious they're trying to take advantage of you hoping you don't know any better lol.

Yeah, bummer. I'll ask for a couple of other dealer quotes and look into one of the BMW specialists in town and see if I can get something more reasonable.

That’s crazy. My brother and I just installed mine including bleeding twice in 5-6 hours. I had gotten a quote from my dealer a while ago, I forgot what the number was but it wasn’t that much.

Edit: I found my quote from the dealership. $677 before tax.

Went on a long road trip to the southern states this week. Started off with a clean car. After a day of driving on the highway, no rain or anything, I was filling up at a gas station and looked at the wheels and my eyes just about popped out of my head: Holy Brake Dust!

So, yeah, now I get all the comments about the huge amounts of brake dust with the M Perf pads. Forget about ever having clean-looking wheels. My gloss black rims are now matte black, with a reddish/brownish tint. From a few car lengths away, they just look matte and a little dirty. Up close, they look like I drove through red New Mexico dirt.

I guess maybe when these pads wear out I will get some of the other recommended pads. The dust is really the only issue I have with the pads.
