As I say I'm happy with the price, just want to see if I can improve in light of the ones cropping up.
Good idea, you don’t need to worry about the extra tax for a year!

Not too bad, although I think I'll keep mine under £40k to avoid the higher tax rate and another £25 a month.

Or, is yours still under with the first years tax to come off?
Sorry, just to clarify, are you saying the 40k high/low tipping point does not include the first years tax... so to qualify for lower tax, you can be £39.99k plus year one tax..? (BMW's OTR prices include year one tax, right..?)...

From the what car website:

"The law defines the price as the car's list price, so any discount you are able to negotiate won't affect the car's VED band. The list price is the price of the car before the 'on-the-road' charges are added, such as a delivery charge, new vehicle registration fee, numberplates and fuel"

My understanding is that delivery charge, number plates, all count towards it. It's only the tax parts that don't.

Read quite a few articles that seem to say that.

Searched for something like this loads of times and never found before. DVLA document shows delivery and PDI charges count, first car registration and first licence doesn't.

Thought I'd share as it's really hard to find info. See table on page 3.

You can but ask. But think about the opposite: if it had increased in price (Brexit, currency fluctuations!), would you a. expect them to honour the deal you originally agreed or b. increase the price? Probably the former...?

If you are inside the 14-day then you're sorted. Just cancel and re-order. The regs are there to protect you against a rushed decision for any reason whatsoever, and a drop in price in that time frame putting you better off to the tune of £1200 is a damn good one! Dealer won't like it.

I was in a similar situation, my car delivery was late and beyond 30 days from the agreed delivery date. The contribution went up by a similar amount. I called and they said tough basically, so I served a hand-written cancellation there and then (meaning they had 7 days to deliver or the cancellation stood) and told them to come back to me when the car arrived if they still wanted to sell it to me.

End result was that they cancelled, re-ordered on the new contribution, and allocated the car back to me on the system. They really didn't want, I had the sales guy breaking a bit of a sweat over it, worried it might land him in trouble, but got the call back a couple of days later with that offer. I bought him a bottle of champagne and case of beers on collection day for the hassle.

Had a chat with the dealer on Saturday. Initial response was as expected and a short, sharp 'no, that's not possible'.
I remained very polite and explained the other issues I'd had with my 335dx (EFR recall not fixed yet) and that I'd ordered the new one prematurely due to mine being off the road, they agreed the circumstances and are now looking to BMW UK for some goodwill.

I'm still not expecting much if anything, but we'll see. To be fair to the dealer, they handled the chat very well.

I did debate about cancelling my order, but when I looked at the numbers again, I decided it just wasn't worth the additional agro to cancel.

Thats not a bad result to be fair, and when you take into account you ordering another car early because they can't fix yours, I would hope the come up trumps.

I must admit i pulled BMW on a spurious spec discrepancy and got a months payment out of them when I expected the dealer principal to say sod off.

Fingers crossed for you.
