Avin USA 10.25 android system install DIY

So I have been thinking about buying a screen from Avin to my X4. Basically what I would like to have is to upgrade the screen to a bigger size and occasionally use it to play video to the backrest monitors. What I dont want to have is to loose sound quality on the original BMW side and any bluetooth connectivity there as well. Is Avin upto my requirements?

Anybody know a way to force update the MCU? I can't update it through the normal method. Used several USB sticks and micro SD but no luck. The system finds the file ask for conformation, then it says please wait with OK and cancel. And nothing happenes.

When I opened the shipment I noticed that the unit is labelled NBT, but my car currently has the CIC unit. Does this matter, or are they all the same for CIC and NBT?
(Since you do not get CIC/NBT as an option during your order, only option is the model year
Either 2012-2017 or 2018 (NBT_EVO)).

In addition to the question above i have the following questions about the wiring harness that comes with the unit. As there are some wires with labels that is not referred to in any installation manuals (or atleast I cant find it).

Hi Jacob,

Did your unit function properly with this connection. Your car is F31 isn't it? My CAN connectors are very different from yours and wondering if that is my problem. I have CAN1 to CANC, CANA to CANB and CAN2 is empty.

Well some good news, I finally managed to update my MCU but only to a CCC one none of the others worked for me. Anybody know the main difference between them like the origin or something else. The version know has HW8 it used to be HW7 May be that has something to do with me and others having problem to update the MCU. I don't have original screen so a CCC MCU is fine at least that is my guess. It fixed one of my problems with the PDC radar not working.
I still have poor GPS fix may be I should downgrade the firmware. Any reports on GPS and new firmware?

What system do you have, CIC or NBT? I presume using the CCC MCU was a last resort? Any negative side effects?

It has a NBT connector but originally came with CIC MCU. My car E84 had no original screen just a professional radio. So far I had no problem but did not test it to much yet. I could not upgrade to any of the other MCU files. I don't know why suspecting something to do with HW7 or HW8 in the MCU version name.

i`m interessted in what it does now look exactly, and how it does work.

I just installed an 8.1 in my 2012 550i (CIC) and I also did not use the connections/wires above. Everything seems to be working but I did have to run the aux out to my center console to get sound on the Android side. So weird that some cars with CIC do not need the aux cable.

Yes, its only a wireless mouse. You get a touchpad and a usbpen. I had to wire it up myselfe because I have the CCC unit.

I have ordered one NBT version now, as CIC is not available anymore, but seems to doesn`t matter as the E Series CIC Controller does not have the PCB on top of the knob.
I hop i will get it to work on the CIC controller somehow

I used a voltage stepdown to 5 volt. And it has been working good sofar.

I also just installed in my 535i touring with success without using those connections. What isn't working for me is the Video-Out (both 1 and 2), which I'd like to use for the OEM displays in the seats. This worked with my 7.1 setup... Did anyone manage to get this to work? Is there a setting somewhere to activate it?

Isn't there some settings under the factory settings menu that you have to turn on. Did you checked them?

I occasionally get all sound really loud from the front left speaker only and then it switches back to all speakers. Anyone else experience this?

You will se it on the print board, which is negative. I cant remember in my head. If you tke picture of printboard I will tell you.
