435d low rev issues
Hi all I have a 2016 435d and had a lack of low revs when pulling away from roundabout and dash put up drivetrain fault. Been to dealer and turned out to be a kink in a vacuum hose. Been ok for 4 days and now has intermittently returned. Just nothing when I put foot down.
Anyone experienced such issues before Thanks |

Have you found out what the problem is yet, have you been to the dealers again to check for faults, does sound similar to others who have mentioned egr valve, best of luck

Yeah sounds like possible EGR... I had the same a couple of months ago, 'drive line malfunction' etc when going to pull off.
I had a new EGR replaced under warranty at the time, with no mention of the cooler being a possible cause. ....and then just a few weeks ago I had the cooler replaced under the safety recall while in for service. |

A kink in the vacuum hose could only have been caused by human intervention during service / repair or you would have have this issue all the time. The symptoms you describe sound like the small turbo not being spooled at the correct time. I experienced just that when one of the vacuum pressure converters on my previous 535d failed ...no power low down then off it went as the revs rose. Sounds like you have a vaccum problem somewhere, either pump, vacuum line kinked or split [they must have been disconnected to become twisted], pressure converter [x2], or an actuator. BMW should be able to find this by simple process of elimination.
Keep us posted please. |

Wow, they seem to have replaced an awful lot, both mechanical and electrical components which would make me a little suspicious. That said I hope its fixed ......and that its a warranty job!

That is a very good question!
I was informed about the recall on the cooler when booking the car in for regular service, and to be honest didnt think much about it, presuming that the issue was being resolved via replacement with a non defective part. I'll dig out the invoice when home and see part# against it. Any idea what the pre recall part# should be ? Quote:

Niicckk..... its just that they replaced almost everything around the large turbo, both mechanical and electrical [pressure converter] which would perhaps suggest that they were unsure exactly what the issue was so changed everything hoping to get lucky. Its an approach i have come across with BMW before but being old school I got them to explain their approach and by applying a simple, logical order to diagnose the problem [rather than plug in and fit all new parts to anything that had an error code!] it was simply a pressure converter failure on my previous 535d causing the boost problem rather than complete turbo failure as they suggested...... fixed for a fraction of their quoted price.
