Stronger clutch for 340xi?

All, I feel like the clutch is kind of weak on my 340xi, and as I consider tunes like mission performance, I would like to know - Is there a popular aftermarket clutch with a little bit more bite and more positive engagement? Would an m3 clutch work?

Am I going to have problems with my x-drive drivetrain if I install a stronger clutch and a tune?

Thanks

We're nowhere near the power numbers where an aftermarket clutch should be considered with just the tunes. If you're running upgraded turbos + meth + etc, then yeah. Probably a 550i/335is clutch.

Thanks. Are you saying that a 335is manual clutch is stronger than the one on a 340xi? Would an m3 clutch fit on the 340?

If I'm not mistaken, yes. We have the same ZF S6-53 transmission since E9x 335i days. The 335is/550i clutch was a direct OEM upgrade for N54 cars pushing big power.

I'm not sure on the F80 M3 clutch upgrade. Looks like it's not possible, and while stumbling on this thread, it confirmed that the 335is/550i clutch upgrade is indeed a direct replacement for the F30 335i (which our 340i uses the same transmission): https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1479217

With upgraded turbos / meth etc.. Its probably better to look at something like a SPEC 2+ / SPEC 3+ Clutch.

The OEM IS/550 clutch is better then original but won't reliably hold that kind of power.
