LCI

Hello,

I often see the abbreviation LCI used everywhere on these forums.

What does it mean?

Little Communication or Indication (LCI)
It's a general comment about BMW drivers and their lack of ability to use of the stalk on the steering column...

What stalk? The one that flashes the headlights? I use that all the time.....
That and the windscreen wipers, I wasn't aware there were any other stalks on there

SO what were the main differences when BMW did the LCI on the 3 series back in 2015/16?

Not very much compared to othe manufacturer, very difficult to tell when looking at them. Rear lights a bit different.

Biggest different I think we're handling tweaks that supposedly made it a much better drive.

And an updated transmission...

Come to think about it, the LCI version is better. Imagine that!

Apart from the 3.0 diesel, all the engines were new, diesel or petrol.

Visually it was way less than most manufacturers do. I can't tell the difference.

I agree that visually, there were only subtle changes. But in terms of hardware and refinement - changes were more impactful.

New engines
New transmission variant
Newly redesigned suspension

There's definitely more as well.

How about the new iDrive interface (tiles design) + touch screen and minor interior tweaks...
