A fair while since various good suggestions on here for my son’s first watch for his 18th. He’s ended up asking for this. Interesting - I think he’s more relaxed about wearing a “cheaper” watch - I hadn’t significantly limited his budget. At the end of the day he likes the look of this one, so we’ll give it a try.

Got a mate selling an Apollo 8 DSOTM at the moment. A 2022 complete set watch. £6500 buys it.

Nice watch and reasonably priced. My son is still too young but I was thinking something like this would be a great present for when the time comes:

SWC ARK GMT

A "Swiss made" microbrand - I found a good review on youtube also showing nice lume shots. They have some cheaper models without the GMT complication and sell the leather or metal straps separately if needed...

Looking for a new "daily" work watch and stumbled across this offering whilst browsing , popped into the Argyle Arcade today for a hands on and couldn`t say no , they even price matched it with a jewellers down south so saved around 20% off list so the wife figured the savings should go towards a new pair of Ugg`s , sounds like woman maths to me.

Seiko Samurai , Black Edition and limited to a production run of just 8000

Quite surprised how solid it felt when i tried it on , wears nice on the wrist for 44mm.

Considered one of these as well but at 41mm i thought it was too small.

A while back I posted about an Omega on Antiques Roadshow valued over £80k. Was browsing earlier and saw this one - kinda cool…

Not really into watches and other than an Apple Watch, have only ever bought myself a Raymond Weil (can't remember the model) in 2001.

Anyway......looking for a watch for my son and he's got his eyes on a 'Dan Henry 1962 Evil Panda'. Thoughts?

Also came across this whilst looking and which might be of interest to some:

Only issue I have is that the glass would scratch - see if you find an option with saphire crystal.

May not be easy to find a swiss chrono with that budget but some good microbrands out there these days... I recently discovered swcusa.com

Nice wesbite, thanks for sharing!
Is it practial/possible to put a protective film over the glass to mitigate this?

He wants a chrono with tachymeter bezel. Was out in the Middle East last month and thought I'd take advantage of cheaper prices on a
https://www.seikowatches.com/in-en/p...vermore/ssb315
or similar. But he was having none of it.....he's done his homework.

Out of all my watches I must wear my G Shock the most. While in London this weekend just happened to pass the G Shock shop in Soho so picked this up as was 50% off and 2 watches for the price of 1.

We head off to London twice a year to visit our daughter and the timepiece of choice when visiting is the daily workwear G Shock , or the Samsung smart watch.

No point attracting the wrong sort of attention , sad but unfortunately the way things are in most busy cities now-a-days.

I already have a Rolex GMT Master Coke and a Rolex Yachtmaster. I tracked down this Submariner in bimetal with the blue face. Full set and in immaculate condition. Very happy

Anyone fancy a Xmas "bargain"

https://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Patek%...12/item/216073

I know WF are a bit more pricy (greedy) than some other sellers but £86k off just shows how the market has changed over the last year , anyone paying list x 3 for a Patek a few years back must be needing some therapy now.

100% agree , but there were people that were paying these stupidly inflated prices.

Was talking to a watch "guy" a few years ago when watches were at their peak pricing and i was looking for my Deep Sea , he advised to pay the going rate as the prices were going to continue to rise , glad i didn`t listen to him as i saved myself 30% by waiting a year.
