What is the most pointless mod you have done.

So what is the most boring and pointless modification you have done to your car.

I ordered and fitted the in glovebox cargo net. Completely pointless and I have no idea when I’ll use it but hey why not lol.

My most pointless was a red start button. The printing on the original button was mostly worn off, but the thing still worked. It is kind of nice to have a fresh-looking button.

fun fact, my car came with the glove box net, I use it to store napkins.

I wonder if this was standard in the U.S.? I’m going to check my car.

My 2017 F36 pre LCI car doesn't have the net. Maybe transition year? or just 3 series?

there was some thread i dug up a while ago, someone listed all the random things bmw took away for LCI models. i was doing research on the cup holder LED light, the glove box net was also on that list. not sure what package or what cars it came with honestly.

I think that net was included to store the detachable tray that covered the front cup holders, there is a little graphic on the bottom of my tray that tells you to store it in that net- so once the LCI update gave a sliding door that you didn’t have to take off and store, they likely got rid of the net they put in in order to store it.

Cool touch though, little things like that make me appreciate German (over)engineering

Damn that glove box net looks pretty spiffy. Would be good to store your insurance and registration if you keep other junk in your glove box. Would allow easy access to your paperwork without having to fumble through your glove box. I think I'll order one!

I keep napkins, straws, leather wipes, extra air freshener refills and a micro fiber towel in my glove box so this would be great.

Fuck, now I need that stupid tray. Yay for another pointless mod!

For those wondering, it is called an Oddments Tray 51169232068 and there is an Insert Mat that can go in it 51169232065.

It would be sick to turn this into some sort of wireless charging.

I don't think it's big enough to store much more than a credit card

Edit: I tell a lie...it will fit my ODB dongle or my sunglasses...

Did the running light trim from eBay for $10. Like the look

Other mod seen here is the arm rest pad on center console. my wife stitched together like a rug for your arm, very comfy

You are exactly correct! I had forgotten about this.

Third time trying to post this. Bimmerpost won’t complete the post.

Probably a tie between a silver P button and the silver borders around the lighting panel.

Interesting. I use it to hold my insurance/registration fold, but the damn thing always slides out of it.

Your photo of the light switch trim just made me realize my early production 2018 doesn’t have that. Do you have the part number? Can you share some details of what was required to add it? Thanks!
