Flying Home...

Im posting because no one in my family knows how to answer their god damn phones... I'm flying home. There's been a death in my family

Why so close to Christmas.. My Mom is beside herself.......and she's alone. If you have my phone number I'd appreciate a call. I dont know what to do with myself I'm 2000 miles away when my Mommy needs me most.

$hit happens when you don't expect them too...

flying home on a bereavement fare? That gets you the most discounted ticket at the last min and top priority (even more than a paying passenger)

I'm sorry for your loss. Its especially hard to lose someone around the holidays, but unfortunately we can't control when our # is called. My Grandmother died two years ago right before Christmas so I can relate. Just keep your head up, and know time heals all wounds.

Parker gave me my delta ticket so I have a free flight home, it just sucks sitting around waiting on my Mom to call and tell me when. I've had friends die but never a family member. This is so hard.

k now that I've calmed down a bit here's what's going on

My Mom woke up at 4:30 this morning, Tommy was in bed next to her gasping for air. She called 911 and tried to give him CPR. He died before the ambulance could get to their house. My Aunt went with my Mom to the ER. My Mom is a wreck. She is beside herself. She called me up and was balling saying "Sara what am I going to do?"... This is a question a child asks their parents. A parent asking their child this is just insane. I didnt know what to tell her. Im 2000 miles away from her and cant get a flight for two days. My Mom needs me so badly right now. Both my Aunts are with her and they brought her to my Grandma's house where she is being taken care of. This is a shock to all of us. Tommy was 50 and healthy. He had a massive heart attack and my Mom is blaming herself for not being able to save him.

Sorry to hear that and I would like to offer my condolences. A sudden thrombotic event like this is hardly ever predictable and given the acuity and severity, there is not much that your mother could have done to save her loved one. It is an unfortunate event and I wish your family would stay strong and help her through this.

I would say drive but I just looked at a map and it's a +day drive and there is not even a somewhat direct highway route.

Sorry for your loss. My Mom passed in 2006 from cancer 5 days after my birthday. Losing a close family member sucks big time.
