Best aftermarket warranty for bmw?

Looking for input on warranties for a 428 as my factory runs out in 5 months. Thanks in advance. My dealer quoted me 3k for a 5 year 60k warranty

The devil is in the details.

You need to read the entire contract...twice....and look CAREFULLY what is covered and what is not.

Look for things like diagnostic fees and how many hours of work before they supply a rental car...and for how long.

Do they pay the shop fees most Dealerships add on in their Service Fees?

What about deductibles? Remember, they are per problem, not 1 deductible if you save up your issues.

What parts are actually covered. Don’t assume.

So you need to read very carefully.

What’s right for some might not be right for another.

Is that on top of the 4/50? That is what I had on my previous car, an E91, sounds like the same price too.

I would check out carchex.com. I found them reasonable when thinking about it. I had a vw EOS. I wanted to extend the warranty mainly because of the folding hard top. There were exclusions. For example, the top. Also, there was a max based on car value. Not an issue on bmw but was on vw. However, real easy to cancel. Done in 1 day. No hassle.

I watched this. Then I watched another video of his. I donít happen to agree with him. By his logic,we shouldnít buy anything because whoever sells it makes money on it. He certainly likes statistics.

It’s like any other insurance. Except life. You buy it and hope you never have to use it.

So you buy life insurance hoping to use it?

A lot of wealthy people buy life insurance for "legacy" purposes. Due to a tax loophole in the USA, life insurance proceeds are paid tax-free.

I’ve recouped about 1/2 the cost of mine in the first year alone. If I had put that money aside monthly, I would be seriously in hole.

Of course this poster from this weekend recouped the entire amount and more from a very common issue.

Warranty Solutions which is owned by Wells Fargo

I have a $0 deductible (technically called a vanishing deductible) if I have work performed at the local BMW Dealership that I purchased the policy at which also assures me of genuine OEM BMW parts in the fix (many do not).

Even with that said, it still has gotchas such as only covering 1 hour of diagnostic time and a recent issue required almost 3 hours of Diagnostic time to track it down and quite frankly, I had to agree to an open ticket that could have run up to 10+ hours of trying to find the issue (a short on the KCAN circuit). Of course some EW provide for 30 minutes to NO diagnostic time. No EW provides for over 60 minutes that I am aware of.

Cool thanks. Wasn't aware of that one. Weighing all options.

Mine was through the dealership and definitely paid for itself. I'll probably go that route again. Sometimes there is a day or so wait for them to approve a fix, but you have a loaner. The reason the one time there was a delay because of a snow storm and it was a $2K plus repair.
