Demo or not. That's a fantastic deal for am 18 440 GC. If you pass on it, please let me in on the dealer and I'll buy it. I don't need it, but I can put it on Turo.

Executive Demos aren't beaters people use on test drives or courtesy cars for oil changes. They're more like company cars that someone would get into deep shit if they mess up. Or they're the cars that the sales people lease out for a few months and have to return. They're treated better than most CPOs

I’ve seen a executive car with 5k miles look like it had 50k. They definitely do get beat on. To give some context I’ve had 3yr36k mile leases that I beat in the entire period and nothing ever goes wrong, they’re just too new. And I usually hit 40k+ during my lease term Last edited by 328iX; 03-07-2019 at 10:21 PM.. |

According to the CPO checklist, there was vibration when braking at highway speed.
According to the invoice from service dept, they resurfaced rotors, replaced pads, replaced sensors front/rear |

The uneven buildup of pad residue on rotor surfaces is not that unusual a situation., it's a common cause of brake vibration/shudder. The fact that it was noted excessive amount of rust may indicate the car frequently sat idle- was not driven often/regularly and/or lived in a humid or salty environment- I would think that if car lived in Gulf coast this is not surprising to see occur.

Warped brake rotors on a street driven car are a pretty rare occurrence. Much more common is uneven buildup of pad material deposited on rotor surfaces, and one does not need to abuse the brakes to have this occur.

and brakes being abused on a long term rental is a much more common and realistic scenario. How many people out there have "excessive pad build up" on a 7k mile vehicle? I've never heard of it, I've never had it in the 20 cars I've owned. Warping is a lot easier than you think, it's not a "track only" thing, especially to cause "VERY BAD vibration".. ok

stats show that 4% of cars exhibit significant signs of uneven deposits on rotors, that's 1 in every 25 cars.
Buy a few more cars then report back😉 |

First thing a tech will do when someone complains about vibration on the pedal or wheel is to measure rotor run out. Based on that, he can pretty much determine asap whether the rotor is warped or there is some build up. The tech will only report what he finds--he is not going to sugarcoat his findings. He has absolutely no reason to lie--his career is at stake. That said, i've had rotors that I swear were warped, and after a good bead blast with new pads, they are as smooth as new. I do not know the specifics of this car, but I would have no reason to doubt the tech. |

Went back to the dealer today with my mechanic buddy. He saw a few things I missed. Nothing major. Just some curb rash and a tiny paint chip. Car brakes fine at highway speed with hard braking or otherwise.
Offered the dealer $36000 and scratch Phantom Footprints ($295) and Permaplate ($499). Sales Mgr said thanks but no thanks |

I'm pretty sure it's not one comment, but rather how you come across as a whole on this forum.
I've been around enough car enthusiasts forums to know we all have different personalities and have different ways of communicating--and that is fine. I think this place would be better if before we post think if we're being antagonistic, or being genuinely helpful. That said, we all share the enthusiasm for the same car -- I hope, so we should all be more helpful towards one another. I hope you don't take it as a dig, I genuinely do think you have some great contribution here! |
