BSI service - rant!!!

Hey guys

Just a heads up for those of u with BSI plan. My service light came on last month and I forgot I actually have 5 years BSI rather than 3 years BSI so I took my car to a BMW specialist to do a quick oil change. So obviously the mechanic reset the service light as part of the service. A few week later, I got a call from Motorline saying car is due in for service and reminded me that I have in fact 2 more years left of BSI plan. I have just came back from motorline BMW this morning and was decline my service (50,000ks) because they said I have taken the car outside the BMW network and the service light has been reset so they cannot do it anymore as BMW AUS will not accept the bill as technically the car now says oil service not due.

Motorline advise that lots of their customer also have been caught out before where they take their car to do an extra oil change and resets the service light. Lets face it, the 30ks service internal is stupid and anyone who loves their car will usually do an extra oil change in between rather than wait almost 2 years for the first oil change.

Word of advise, take care when u do take ur car outside dealership for a extra oil change in between. Make sure the service indicator is not reset. My stuffed up has cost me thousand out of pocket so very annoyed at BMW for how they treat customer in this circumstance

Many independent workshops also do not have the facilities to scan keys/interpret CBS information so you could be exceeding the recommended intervals for plugs and air filter for example, if the workshop just does oil changes only.

Get the key scanned at a dealer and ask for a printout of the CBS report

The problem is, the workshop reset his oil service interval light (pressing the odo button on the dash).

So the keyread will still say the car is not due for an oil change
