Reviving the thread for any update from those that have bought the intake; has anyone run into issues?

I managed to stay away from modding for the first year of ownership but now the mod bug has bit (again lol)

You could purchase this intake box and replace the filter with a pro ram filter or a K&N filter.

You still using the original kyrostar filter as well? & what is the best way to clean the kyrostar filter? I want to clean it and at the same time buy a new filter but don’t know which cause I can’t find one with the same exact dimensions .

Any filter you please recommend specifically? I can’t find any with the dimensions of this kyrostar/mst filter.

If it's an MST clone, would the MST replacement filter not work?

Just found the MST replacement filter cone for the B58 but I also found one from RK tunes that says it’s for the B58 as well but a different design compared to the MST one. The design of the MST one has a closed filter top, but the clone MST intake and the RK tunes filter has a open top that goes inward, Which one would you recommend if you had to choose between those two ? I’m thinking the MST filter but it seems like the open top filter that goes inward and closes inside looks to provide more surface filter space?

Are you talking about this one ? https://www.b58racing.com/performanc...ntake-filter-1
Already ordered the MST replacement but now thinking if I should cancel it and get that one since I have a stage 1 BM3 tune. I’m sure the MST filter is enough airflow for a stage 1, are you running that proram filter? Anyone else used this filter before?.. couldn’t find reviews on them for the B58 for some reason.

Would that filter even fit the MST heat shield cover? Since the width of it is more then the MST by a good amount. ..?

The heat shielding cover will most likely have to be removed but it definitely sucks in more air than the MST filter and produces more woosh sounds

Do you currently have installed the proram air filter without the heat shield cover or the MST cone filter with the cover installed?

No not at the moment but I will be ordering one for my friend for his M340i. I have ordered an intake filter from cobb_developments so I will be installing that one on my F36. I will have to remove the intake cover though but I already have a turbo heat shield from ross racing.

Bought it on alibaba.
I'll receive it end of the week.

For those who bought it, are you stock?

I received this intake and installed it. The intake itself is of decent quality, actually I was pretty surprised considering the price. The biggest gripe I have is that, in my opinion, the intake tube is a bit too small. The tube where it slides into the intake box to attach the filter seems a bit off. They could have bent the tube a little more to get it to sit straighter into the hole. Also, the filter itself is a pain in the ass to position correctly without it touching the wheel well. Other than those two things it seems to perform well, with nice intake and turbo spooling sounds, especially over 3K RPM in sport + mode.

Overall I would give it an 8 out of 10. I also snapped the stupid plastic ball pin that secures the base of the intake to the car, so I gotta get another of of those. I'll take some pics of it after word and upload them to this post. I got the unit from here:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/325317524143

I was also able to get the price down to $150 by sending the seller an offer if you guys wanna save some scratch. Also, if you broke the ball pin stud like I did, the part number is 13718620703

Clearly, a bit pain to install it.
I didn't reuse the plastic pin pall to secure the base. I used one of the nut (sorry if that doesn't mean anything, i use google trad). to secure it.

I'm on stg3 with a p800 so I already have a free flow inlet from pure without any resonator.
The sound is INSANE.
I did log the car : 4% less of wastegate work. Quite good !

You used one of the locking nuts to secure it? Did the threads match up and were you able to get a good bite?

Glad there are both stock and upgraded turbo users using this intake and having good results. Would definitely recommend replacing the Kyostar intake filter with something more high quality such as a Pro Ram Air Filter or maybe an air filter from Cobb_Developments

I had that in my mind before purchasing the CAI.
I'll buy a pro ram air later, it's another 100€ to spend.

Hey all, not sure if this has been brought up and I know the thread is a few months old but I just wanted to put it out there, this brand does not go well with n20/n26 motors, I got two cars with the same motor, a couple years ago I got the injen one at a lower price than what you can find it for now, I put that on my car and waited too long to get it for my second car, by the time I went to buy one it was nearly double the price. I found kyostar at a cheaper price so bought that for the second car and although the design is similar, it’s maf sensor placement is different and it doesn’t have the nipple that connects the hose to the valve cover. Anyways I went to put it on and the car ran rough, decided to drill a small hole and put an npt fitting with a gasket for the hose that it didn’t have the nipple for, still ran rough, reset adaptations and still nothing. I ended up putting the og one back on and it runs way better, I guess the point I’m trying to make is just get the injen one if you got the n20 motors.

Ps it did throw some cels at me, saying it was too lean and air mass too low, unless anyone recommends a work around this? Maybe a different aftermarket filter? I also cleaned my maf sensor

This might sound sacrilegious but has anyone found these to be _too_ loud? It's hard to tell with the sound videos and many of them also have highly modified exhausts.

It's funny that the intakes either produce no increase in sound or far too much. Something that reminds me of older turbo japanese tuners or something.

Heat shield fitment is terrible but doesn’t sound bad at all. Worth every cent.
