You need the wiring because it needs to be canbus wired into the Front
Equipment Module.

I was slowly going to buy the bits myself - complete s/h power mirrors range from £110 to £200, the 2x dimming mirror glass are around £140, switch about £80 and the wiring maybe £40.

However I found a Indy that did it all in for £500 - who is independently employed by BMW dealers to do some of there retrofits.

PM me if you want his details - he also does F10s and minis. While he was fitting the mirrors he also told me he does other retrofits including comfort access, active cruise control - all with BMW parts either s/h or new.

Edit: you don't need the electric seat for tilt to kerb (dipping), as I understand from by fitter this comes from the FEM module and anyway I haven't got it and dipping works fine. The electro-chromatic (dimming) element however does need the centre rear view mirror with dimming for the wing mirrors to work. Additionally I thought having tinted window would affect the wing mirror capability - it doesn't by much.

Hi,

Pls PM me the details

Thanks

Different question about folding door mirrors: in my VWs (and Peugeots prior to that), when the mirrors were folded in, they stopped in until you said otherwise. Great for whizzing along single/1.5 track roads. Hit a main road again, flick switch, out.

When I was last looking at a 3 Series (pre-facelift F3x) I had a demo with these, and over a certain speed they automatically popped out.

Does the facelifted F3x have this same problem as well? And if so, is there a way to code *this* function into factory fit foldout mirrors? And the dipping passenger mirror in reverse if you don't spec the electric seats?

Yes you can change the max fold out speed through E-Sys.

Dipping wind mirror, i dont think so i am afraid.

Nice one, thanks! Any recommendations for E-Sys coders in NW England?

Could I possibly get the details please. I've been considering the retrofit folding mirrors for a while and this might be the answer!

Thanks in advance.

Ok looks like his number Is the same 07508 578 579 - providing his eBay account is mcrussellj - see http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-F10-FL...wAAOSw7KJXDoyv

I was PMing privately to protect the number, but if it's public on eBay then I guess it's ok to put here.

Anyone retrofitted this?
Apart from the parts, what others wires or codings are needed?

I cant wait to order/buy my next car, I will be making sure a 2nd hand one has all these options or will buy them all fro new.

Retrofits are expensive, no matter how cheap in relation to the cost of speccing from new.

Man tax!

You can sell the pair you take off for around £100 each on fleabay, or use them as spares for when some muppet smashes your door mirror - saved me around £200 from the stealers, since most of the parts are common.

Yeah I thought that after I'd posted, shouldn't have a problem selling the old ones as bound to be plenty of poor sods who've had their's bashed!!

Sup. Sorry for necroing almost 2 year old post. But....

I have a local wrecker selling two F30 mirrors with 5-pin connectors. He has already sold the driver's side door (with the controls) so I don't know if they are powerfolding or not

They are both with 5-pin connectors. Taken from the same car. Should they be power folding ones?
