Yesterday Dinan refunded me the cost associated with install, trouble shooting, and springs (<$2500).

Sounds like out of the roughly 30 sets they shipped, 3 customers had the same issue I had. I was told they've decided to re-engineer the springs since the original batch had discrepancies between sets (not backordered like it's stated on the website). My particular springs physically measured different than others they had in stock, causing the issue of them not seating properly.

I believe the other gentleman, PSA955, had a similar outcome as me... we're both back on OEM springs with our Dinan springs shipped back to CA.

Thanks for the update. I assume you don't know when the new design will be available? Will you try them when they are?

Not sure on their estimated release date... Might wait a year before install any revised springs... make sure they work.

Good to hear they ponied up for the labor. I'm also heartened to hear that they seem to have identified the issue gives me overall confidence in the product and that the issue will be resolved.

Does your car have DHP? If so, did you get Shockware installed? Are you considering getting Shockware installed independent of when correct springs are available?

Does anyone know what the revised springs are compared to the first batch that was released? I was one of the first to buy them pre-ordered in NYC and I am noticing that they are very soft however they are not bottoming out.
I really don't feel like they were designed correctly

My dealer compensated me for the initial install and worked directly with Dinan to cover all other expenses incurred diagnosing, fixing and ultimately reinstalling the OEM springs. I was very pleased with the service, courtesy and professionalism of my dealer, Habberstad BMW in Huntington, NY. I still have Shockware which is great, the short time I had the springs and Shockware I was very happy. Had this worked the way it was supposed to I would have considered buying this car at lease end. Regardless of what Dinan does with these springs in the future I don't think I'll modify the suspension again. At this point I'll wait 18 months for the lease to expire (it's actually 2 years but as we all know they'll let me out in 18 months or more) and seriously consider an M3 or a rear wheel drive 335 or 435. Hopefully BMW will work on improving the steering, handling suspension of the F30. For me , the E90 was a much better driving car. I know this debate rages on, it's a personal opinion, my 2011 335 M-Sport was perfect right out of the box. I beat myself up everyday for not buying that car: RWD, manual tranny, Le Mans Blue (IMHO much better than Estoril), Saddle Brown interior, what a great great car.

Thank you, appreciate the feedback.

You're the first person I've encountered who has Shockware without Dinan springs on an xDrive.

Did Shockware add any harshness to the ride quality?

Thanks
Bruce

I don't think so Bruce. In each mode (comfort, sport and sport+) the steering is tighter, a lot less play in the wheel and the suspension damping and travel makes the car feel much more settled, especially at higher speeds. I have a manual transmission, the nose of the car used to "bounce" up and down while shifting, not anymore. I find the suspension is almost where it should have been from the factory (I obviously wanted more with the springs, but that didn't work out). I highly recommend Shockware, great purchase.

I just had Dinan Shockware installed on my 2013 F30 335i xDrive, picked it up Friday.

The ride and handling feel more controlled, more responsive based on local driving. I have not had a chance to try out the car on back roads.

Some comments-

I would prefer not to have the suspension any firmer than it is now in Sport mode given road conditions here and that my car is used 24/7/365.

The work was done at a BMW dealer that is also a Dinan dealer.

Before deciding on that dealer, I talked with a local independent BMW repair shop that I used for my previous car when it was out of warranty. They are not a Dinan dealer, did not want to try doing the installation, and specifically recommended going to a combined BMW / Dinan dealer to avoid the possibility of me getting caught in the middle between BMW and Dinan in case an issue arose.

The dealer did not have an issue installing the Shockware s/w per se. However, they did encounter an issue with the BMW s/w after the Shockware was installed. They had to contact Dinan and were able to resolve that.

The guys at Imola do good work. That said, for Dinan install stuff I'd only use Motorwerks simply due to the fact that they're the Dinan dealer. Everything in-house makes the communication easier.
I've never had a problem with any Dinan stuff on my previous Bimmers (both M cars), so I've never needed warranty work. However, in talking to both Dinan and the guys at Motorwerks, if I ever had a problem with a Dinan component, they'd take care of the issue right away and then argue the issue with Dinan behind the scenes after the fact.

Keep me up to date on what you find out. I have been planning on getting Dinan springs for my RWD 328i.

I just called to get the dinan suspension (springs and bump stops) for the 335i Xdrive - they said the new release will out in 2-3 weeks - they are refining the spring rates.

As a general question - does the suspension help handling / roll? I had the Dinan stage 2 suspension on my e90 xdrive and it really transformed the car - -but it was pretty harsh. SHould I get the shockware in leiu of the suspension?

My local dealership (who is also a Dinan retailer) said that even if you get the Shockware without changing your springs, it will be a huge improvement. Afterwards, getting the springs would just be largely for cosmetic reasons.

I bought Shockware before the springs HUGE improvement. I was one of the people who had problems with the springs and had to back to OEM(see the beginning of this thread). The car looked and felt great. The brief time I had them I loved the combo of Shockware and springs. I didn't think it was too harsh, but then again I loved and miss my E90 M-Sport, and only had the combo for 2 days.

Try the Shockware, if you want more get the springs and bump stops.

I just re-read the shockware description on the dinan site - I don't have DHP - so looks like the suspension set-up is my only option. I am surpised they don't update the sway bars.

I like the comfortable ride - just trying to tighten up the corner roll and get the drop of course !
