I have also done the LCI A/C panel retrofit on my pre-LCI IHKA3 F31.
Totally love it. Full transformation of the centre console, not only because of the white digits, but also due to the different font of the A/C panel. For anyone interested,I have found that without FDL coding IHKA3>3006>Farbumschlag>AKTIV, the digits remain white at night, but if you turn down the instrument lights-ambient light slider across the middle, the digits become amber. I prefer it this way, because if I have Sport mode on my 6WB digital cluster at night, the A/C white digits suit better the white digits of the cluster, but I can also turn the A/C digits to amber through the light slider when I am in comfort mode. Try it! |

crosspost from other topic:
Maybe not 100% ontopic but I have an issue with my IHKA3: Car is from 03/14 but IHKA3 was already there. So I retrofitted LCI HVAC and everything was working properly. I tested all functions / buttons for 2 mins and then turned the panel off. Afterwards I coded IHKA3 with „Fatbumschlag“ to get the color change from white to amber. After coding the panel turned on, everything is still working but I cant switch it off anymore. I can go to lowest ventilation setting and if I keep pressing the lower / off button further nothing happens. Anybody has an idea what went wrong? Coding was done with e-sys, VCM readout first and the only value changed was „Farbumschlag“ before FDL coding it |

When you code the IHKA ECU, it’ll sometimes set the A/C compressor into a “learn” or “diagnostic” mode for a few minutes until it’ll be all okay and let you turn it off. Give it 5-10 minutes of it being on and it should revert back to normal

Just one question,
If you went to Dealer for service or maintenance, will there be major problems if they recode your vehicle ?? |

I recently upgraded my IKHA to IKHA3 following this DIY. The only thing I had trouble with was Esys recognising the IKHA3.
I changed build date to 07/14, wrote FA FP and coded all ECUS IKHA3 still was not showing. I realised that during Tal Calculating when you have to select a iStep Shipment (KIS/SVT) instead of choosing the vehicles actual iStep shipment choose an LCI shipment e.g. 14-07-505 Select HW-IDS from SVTactual Then follow TAL processing but only flash IKHA3 which should now show. |

I would just like to double check I have fully understood, mine is a late Sept 2014 so I’m good on the IHKA3, only the lower climate controller needs replacing with 6411 9 363 546.
This means the radio controls above can stay as stock and there won’t be any functional or cosmetic issues (different fonts etc). I can code it to have it work as stock, or if lucky, it will flip Amber or white depending on the brightness of the dash lighting control. Does that about sum it up? Thanks to Tim for the excellent DIY. |

Well, I found one on ebay for 149 with the radio controls and the LCI illuminated panel.
Like imbeciles they didn’t wrap it in bubble before wrapping it in paper so I had to take it apart and polish out the scratches, but in the end it came out well. Going in for EGR recall inspection in the AM so not going to install it yet, just in case they do any updates. |
