Fan sounds different after FMIC install
I installed a VRSF charge pipe and 5" fmic. After the install when I took the car for a test drive it seemed ok but a few miles into the ride I got a drive train malfunction warning. So it looks like I didn't have the silicon coupler positioned correctly or clamped tight to to the 2 charge pipe halves. I re-adjusted everything and got it aligned correctly. Car runs great and I have no codes. I do have a different fan sound than before with the stock intercooler. I'm thinking the bigger fmic makes the fans sound different. Had anyone had this experience?

more air can move through the FMIC thus changing the sound of the fan

I just installed a fmic and my fan sounds different also. No codes everything is running fine. The fan is just louder now. I'm guessing it's normal because the intercooler is bigger and the fan is just echoing off of it. At least I hope that's what it is...

When you install a larger intercooler (heat exchanger) in front of the radiator (another heat exchanger), you're altering the air flow through both heat exchangers. The fan make sound different because it's working harder due to air flow being more restrictive.

my fan was loud as well but it turns out mine was shot and not running as it should. I just got the new replacement installed and its noticeably quieter than the old one. I also finally bent the wrong tabs on my VRSF FMIC to lock in the fan correctly.
