BMW Connected Drive Setup

Ok, it's raining and I am holiday, aka bored.

I eventfully take delivery of my car next Tuesday.

At what point can I get my connected drive all setup?

I have the Registration, the Vin and have signed for the car tax.

Is it just a case of ringing them up to pester them to do it.

Have done the website thing but not got anything back yet -grr.

I am pleased did not take it on holiday, my god the roads, how narrow!

Used my brakes more since Saturday than I have all year lol.

Oh that side I know, it comes with 3 years inclusive with new car.

It's the actual mechanics of creating / activating an account

I would contact them now. It took a week and a half for them to set mine up despite having another car already connected, hence an existing account. Still a few teething issues such as BMW remote not working and giving cryptic messages (Secret knowledge might not be activated), even though it has worked fine on my other BMW.

I have business nav in my new car so I think I'm correct in thinking I get connected drive for 3 years free.

Could someone remind where I go to activate it?

Also, What can you do with connected drive?

Yep, thanks did the website thing last Friday and have dropped them an email.

Was more a case of just how long does it take them.

I will ring them tomorrow if they do not reply to email.

Did mine over a weekend, got the confirmation email on the Wednesday, which says it will be active in 24 hours but the text message with details arrived at the same time.

So looks like 3 to 4 days assuming no weekend working

I've got BUS NAV. realise I should have ordered BUS NAV PLUS so I get connected drive. seems I can't get it added by the deal, and have to wait for them to release their new connecteddrive store, and then do an upgrade "online" from the car.

anyone know any different? or when this store will happen? announced a year ago but BMW UK CS staff don't know when it will arrive

Mine took a couple of days to come through too.

You will also need to go through some security stuff on the website if you want to activate additional stuff on the Remote app e.g. Remote locking/unlocking, flash lights etc.

Very good service

I had a quick look but can't figure out to add a new vehicle when I've already got a account for current one?? Surely there should be and say way to add one when I'm logged in? Couldn't be bothered with going through the new connected drive stuff in owner area of bmw.co.uk...... Hopefully can get my dealer to sort it tomorrow!

They made me re register for some bizarre reason and it took a couple of weeks, despite having an active account on another car (now sold). I also had to delete the remote app and reinstall it for no apparent reason. Probably the equivalent of the old IT - switch it off and on solution to everything.
