Might order a 2018 330i/340i 6MT before the window closes in a few weeks

I hope g20 (or new m3/4) use carbon core like 7 series. But most likely not because new 5 series did not get it (really disappointed).
And even if g20 got everything good, I would still wait for it getting a new drive train. I would not replace a b58 with another b58.

not particularly. It will have a turbo 4 and if rumor holds true, the same 4 banger as the 330. It will prob be a little roomier, a little lighter, it will have some more 'standard' tech that just ups the base price to pay for said tech, and it will look like every bmw ever. they could improve the steering and make the current variable sport steering the standard stock steering - that would be a big improvement. The current base suspension and m sport suspension are both quite good in my opinion. Can't really improve on the ZF 8 speed auto. apple car play will prob be standard etc. etc.

Meh, the 3-series has gotten too big and uninvolving for me. I’m more interested in the 2-series these days, or seriously thinking of jumping ship if the competition can get its act together and produce a decent competitor.

Yeah I mean I would be inclined to just keep mine. It isn't like the new 3 series 4 banger will be any faster than the n20. The interior might be a little 'nicer' but if you start pushing around, prob not really. There will be a digital audi esque display. Blah blah. Who cares

I ordered F30 340 6MT rather than switch to automatic

I am but don't feel like paying $50k for a Mexican Bmw... plus I feel like the 3 has lost its charm quite a bit.

I will mostly skip it for the X5 or 5 series...

Unless the 3 is outstanding in the steering feel department.

Unless they make a 4 door 2 series, I'm still interested. The G80 is supposed to be lighter than the current F80, if that is the case, there is a chance that the G20 will be lighter than the F30. The ZF8 CAN be improved upon, as witnessed in the M5. Hopefully they carry the improvements over to the G20 and G80.

I'm just going to bet it all that BMW will in fact release a manual M340i. Think about it, if the M3 6MT is happening, then why wouldn't they release an M340i 6MT? It just doesn't add up.

If I lose the bet, then I'll just have a really good reason to just buy an M3.

The reason they wouldn't is that it would require an expensive EPA certification and they would bet that enough people would just buy an M3.

Definitely looking forward to an M340i when it becomes available in March/April of 2019. Rumored to be 385 hp in stock form. Basically, same concept as the M240i. G20 M440i will follow in 2020.

Wow, there are some kill joys around here. "No 6mt so no interest, it's probably going to be softer and less driver focused than the f30, it's going to be too big, the 3 series sucks, bmw has lost its way, all they care about is increasing sales and profits, interior quality will probably be cheesy, I'm getting an Alfa Romeo instead, blah blah blah. Tough crowd!

Being a 3/4 series owner, I'm interested in the g20, especially the 340i (I intentionally left out the "M" because I've learned that merely typing that letter in a bmw forum can start a Category 5, off-topic shit storm.) while I'll be following the g20 line, I'll be more interested as the new 440 gc gets closer. By then, some initial wrinkles in the platform will have been ironed out, and if the g* 4-series compares similarly to the g20 as the f32/36 did to the f30, it'll be a more engaging and satisfying drive.
