What type of oil ?

Hello everyone !
I am currently running N55 pwg with 61 000 km. I drive this car quite dynamic to be honest. Now I have 5w30 and was thinking about 5w40.
I have also BMS Sport Oil Cooler Valve and my oil have about 100 C not 120 C like in stock.
And that's time for oil change. Which will be the best?

use the one written in your cars manual , change it every year .
keep a canister of 1 liter in the trunk . my old car used 1 liter every 12 to 15K depends on driving style . dont start fooling around with other stuff just because your read it somewhere .

You want to stick to a BMW Long-life rating LL-01 Approved Synthetic Oil.
But it depends on the climate so what you read in another country might not apply.
Just make sure that the oil is LL01 though, and keep your oil changes below 10,000km (I personally do mine every 7,500km). Turbo cars are hard on the oil, small trips are hard on the oil also, oil changes are cheap and easy, this is the key to keeping your engine happy for a long time.

This question is beaten to death all over the place. Staying LL-01 approved is the most important thing. Here's a big thread on it: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1543670

If you are asking about 30 vs 40, I would go with 40 for us free-spirited drivers.
When selecting an engine oil, ensure that the engine oil belongs to one of the viscosity grades SAE 0W-40, SAE 0W-30, SAE 5W-40, and SAE 5W-30 or malfunctions or engine damage may occur.

Any LL01 or LL04. Whichever is recommended for your country.

Viscosity is largely irrelevant unless your tracking the vehicle.
