F30 335i - Rough idle, lose power.

Guys, I have a big problem. Everything was fine with the car until the moment when I wanted to accelerate. At that point I’ve heard a shot, dont know if it was from the tailpipe or from the engine. Then i’ve noticed that the car Lost power completely. It doesnt want to drive just like it wouldnt get any air. There was no mistake on the display, until i’ve tried to accelerate harder. Then the mistake about losing power showed.
You can see The symptoms on the idle running on the movie. The car turnes out, engine rotation is freaking. At the end of the movie you can hear a weird nosie from the back of the car. Another symptom is a „hiccup” when driving with the cruising speed

You need to start by getting the car scanned, see what codes are there. Your car is most likely in limp mode. I had a similar issue, It ended up being a bad cam shaft position sensor, but at this point, it could be many different things. Start with codes.

Check to see if your charge pipe is still attached. If it blows off sounds like a loud gunshot & the power goes away.

Might not be you problem but the symptoms fit so its worth a look.

but symptoms of idle can be indicative of charge pipe?
I noticed that when I go, the whistling of the turbine is audible

Just judging by the choppy, cammy sound of the idle, the first suggestion of a camshaft position sensor seems like a good one. Definitely need to scan for codes and see what comes up though.

Is it possible, camshaft sensor fault without SES (check engine)?
I saw today, if my car comes to limp mode, idle was very very soft like a new car. But if I start the car again and limp mode gone, then my car is idling like on video.

That's interesting. I would imagine you'd get a CEL with a bad cam position sensor, so I dunno. You need to scan for codes ASAP though. I'm pretty sure you can rent a scan tool from autozone or something if you don't have one.

1st thing to check is see if your charge pipe is torn in half.

Ouch. Definitely time to upgrade to an aftermarket one! Glad you found the issue.
