I'm no snowflake, I just don't happen to think that racism has its place in this day and age. I've only lived in Luton for a couple of years and whilst there is a large population of non-whites living in Luton, I think it adds to the cultural education and experience - some parts of Bury Park are very interesting.

My neighbour is of Indian heritage and I wouldn't swap them for all of the white council estate, benefit sponging lowlifes in any City. I often find that Asians have a family first mentality and take great pride in their property also.

Pointing out a racial stereotype is a snide attempt at racism and I just don't understand why anyone sees colour in people these days.

Well thats nice to know and totally agree that racism has no place in society.

But you have highlighted a racial group in a derogatory sense so that makes you just as racist as the person you accused. Difficult minefield aint it?

Ok, now some of you might misinterpret this but......

Speaking as an "ethnic minority" with family living in Luton for nearly 30 years I can say the following.........

I personally have no problem with Luton. There is even a bunch of guys living there (I think they are in the pharmaceutical industry) who own a load of Italian exotica which I have rented in the past from them.

My family on the other hand are in the process of house hunting around St Alban's as the road they live on has lost its appeal to them.
In my Aunt's own words.......
"When we first started living here we were pretty much the only pakis on this road. Now it's full of them."

What she means (before I get flamed) is that us members of the asian community do enjoy playing keeping up with the Khan's, of which she is sick of and she would rather live somewhere where no one gives a fuck what car you drive or how much you spent on your extension or which university your child is going to etc.

I work in the Luton area (Dunstable actually but regularly travel through Luton and would say it's not the greatest area, especially when compared to some of the nearby towns previously mentioned, eg Harpenden and St Albans

However it's ridiculous to suggest it's a shithole because the residents are a certain colour. In fact a few weeks ago on Channel 4 '24 hours in police custody' followed the case of a local drug dealer who ran someone over on a Dunstable pavement. He was white and clearly not a very successful drug dealer as he was driving a 3 door Corsa.

Lots of local people here speaking foreign languages, but a large number are eastern european, all of which I would rather live next door to than the white 'council' types that always seem to be up to no good.

This too is probably racist but just how I see it

Also, have never seen an ISIS flag in Luton but maybe I'm not looking hard enough

I interpreted (quite possibly wrongly) that the comments about the town being >50% non-white (which may be untrue, I have no facts but suspect it wont be the case) were perhaps one of the reasons for said town being a shithole'

I think its annoying that certain members jump on the 'race or racist' line because that's how they have read others comments.
