I am obviously driving the car wrong because I rarely get less than 500 miles per tank for any types of journey from my 435d (despite the extra weight for being convertible).

If all I do is 10 mile commute journeys (10 miles each way) I'll get 500-520 miles per tank (half rural, half urban)

On a run I easily get 550+

What are you putting in that? Might be lighter than the other 2 chassis types, and I'm guessing not xdrive, which I think is the culprit for most of the lacking mpg.

I usually get ~430 miles from a tank, but I often have to fill up before I hit the 430 mark otherwise I can only make it to work, but not home. :P

480ish on f36 430d diesel. Country road commute, had the car 4 weeks and the car computer says I’m averaging 41.7mpg. Occasionally put it in sport, get very scared and put it back, occasionally put it in eco pro to save money and get very bored so put it back.
Upgraded from an f20 118d, so the speed and consumption is a completely different story.

It is x-drive and I almost always use BP ultimate.

I was worried I overstated (I was quoting trip computer range) but just checked an old spreadsheet, I did 6103 miles over four months and put in 603.13 litres - so exactly 46mpg.

I don't let the tank get too low as a rule but here's a few of the bigger fill ups:

Mileage Litres MPG
512 52.45 44.38
516 50.67 46.29
509 47.09 49.14
499 49.89 45.47

335d mainly motorway with some commuting - all commuting give 550 miles per tank with short journeys dropping this to 500

I've looked around a bit and the convertible is heavier at 1,925kg, whereas a GC is 1750kg... I've not tried BP ultimate, but I wouldn't expect ~9-10 mpg more from it! (i'm averaging 35)
