Purchased a 335i X-drive M Sport! Now what?
Hi all,
Thank you to everyone that chimed in and helped me through the process of deciding on my new car. All of the input really helped me! Yesterday, I purchased the following: 2015 335i X-drive M sport package pretty well loaded. It has CPO and Maintenance through September 2020, no mileage cap. According to my dealer, the car was ranked #1 of 264 vehicles across the region by some independent ranking system BMW uses. I forget what it was called. I am over the moon. Questions for all of you: 1. What are the essential car care products I should pick up? Specifically looking for recommendations on a wash and wax I can use for home washes. 2. Any mods (quick DIY or otherwise) to do that won't void my warranty/service plan? 3. Any onboard set up tips/tricks you can share? Thank you all again. I would get your money back from the maintenance package. i was sold into it but i cancelled it and got my money back...
depending on your mileage in the next two years what maintenance will you get... at most two or three oil changes... maybe a brake service... is that worth the $2k plus that you paid for it???? doesnt even cut close... and on top of that, the dealership will only service your car when the computer tells you too.. jus some food for thought... congrats on the purchase... you gonna love the car!!!

i hit less than 10k and it was just not worth it for my car... im assuming you dont want to void warranty so a tune and downpipe are out of the picture.... however if you ever plan on tuning your car... i would recommend replacing the factory charge pip with a metal one... they are known to blow up from spirited driving on stock engines... an exhaust will definitely open up the n55 engine and will sound good. beyond that there the basic cosmetic mods you can do. Wheels will change the entire look of your car as well have fun!

1. I use Adam's polishes detailing stuff and Meguiars regular car wash stuff. It just depends on your preference, but wouldn't recommend the off-brand stuff you find at walmart. Mothers, Turtle Wax, Chemical Guys, etc. all make good products. I pretty much go for what's accessible and cost effective.
2. I made a thread for quick/cheap mods. Take a look for starters. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1437440 But obviously there are a lot of other things you can do like wheels, exterior trim (lips/diffusers/spoiler), interior trim, etc. If all you're concerned about is the engine/transmission/drivetrain like most people, then just don't touch anything that affects those. 3. Check out the coding section. There are several apps like Carly that you can download to do some coding bits easily. Congrats - very nice car.
Depending on how long you may want to keep the vehicle, coilovers will significantly improve the suspension behavior. xDrive equipped vehicles have a base suspension. |

I've been at this point of what to do to my car and this is what I'm doing so far...
Motor wise........ VRSF CP (looks like BurgerMotorsport is offering it now also under the phoenix brand name) Phoenix fmic Flash tune either MHD or BM3 DP will be upgraded to a High-flow cat if the original burns-out but I highly doubt it will since I rarely go full throttle... Next year will probably go PS2 and then the DP will definitely be upgraded.. Suspension wise... I really want to lower the car and if I did I'd just go with coil-overs... but living here in the city I'm kinda scared of even putting on the front spoiler due to my wife has already scraped the underside of the front end a couple of times pulling in and out of driveways around here when I do let her drive it... the spoiler is actually sitting right next to me right now collecting dust... |

Happy to see you started a new thread to get away from that 328 vs 335 war.
I'm in a similar situation with the warranty and not wanting to void it although now I'm preparing for my warranty to end and am working on going bm3 stage 2 93 octane. What I did in my first couple of years was all cosmetics and I haven't had any problems with warranty and made my car look 100x better. If your looking to do stuff performance wise, legally you can do anything you want and the only way it would void warranty is if the dealer can prove that whatever after market part you put in was a direct cause of the failure. I still didn't want to take a chance with the bs so I personally stayed away. Ps with the m perf front lip you do have to change your driving style completely or you will destroy it. I have one on my car and love how it looks. If I was you make this guy ^^^^^ an offer so it can stop collecting dust and maybe get a steal on your first add on. |

His car is msport though, so it might have the adaptive m sport suspension. The adaptive is pretty good as is, even with xdrive. I think it'll still have softer springs though, so coilovers would work if still unhappy with it. If it's adaptive there might be certain things to be mindful of when adding aftermarket suspension parts. Probably worth reading in the suspension sub forum.

I got all of my stuff on prime day it was under 50 bucks with prime day discounts. It's all chemical guys stuff. Clay bar, Black Light, Jet Seal, Extreme Top Coat Wax and Sealant, and Butter Wet Wax. It's a lot more now that it's not prime day anymore. Got it to shine like this though

Assuming the paintwork is pretty clean, you might want to look into a paint protection film or ceramic coat to keep it looking mint as long as possible...if that's important to you. Still one of my biggest regrets in not doing every time I look at all the rock chips on my front bumper.

A couple more questions: 1. Regarding octane, from what I have read it sounds like use 91 when available and 93 if not. No 87 or 89, correct? 2. I read somewhere that taking out two 5 amp fuses keeps the exhaust pipe open all the time. What does this do to sound etc.?

i'd get painted front and rear reflectors. maybe a new charge pipe but you have the cpo coverage so idk.

Great car...! I did the same around 3 weeks ago. You will want to spend the next month trying to digest the owner's manual. This is the most complex car I have ever owned. There are a few pages dedicated to just locking the doors! As for using the sound system, you may need a factory rep with you for a few weeks. It's great to have choices, but a little simplicity would be appreciated as well. And "profiles"....Ha!
