Alpina gearbox flash

I've been reading about this and like the idea of having it done, does anyone know who can do it in the Leeds / Manchester area? I don't mind traveling but Southampton is a bit too far....

Not worth it according to Martin from Quantum Tune who wrote the map for Birds. The gearbox is pretty well set and voiding the warranty on it is not a good idea. At least with some remaps such as Birds/Mulgari you are covered for engine failure. Although, I would like to see someone prove it! The fact there are not many reports other than 'eco boom' says mostly there are no issues to report by the remapped masses on here. However, I haven't come across a remapping service which provides full drive train warranty ie. including transmission.

Relashing the gearbox won't turn it into an alpine.
The ratios are different and the alpina has a lower 8th I believe

I really only wanted it so it shows me what gear it's in all the time, not just in sport. Small thing I know...

You can do that with carly or bimmercode dude
BimmerCode also has coding for sports transmission which slightly improves your shifts.

Ooooooooooh, I didn't know I could do that with Bimmercode, it's on my shopping list for this month and I'll be attacking the car as soon as it's delivered in September Thanks for the heads up

I have it on my car, for £90 well worth it, it wakes up a slightly lazy gearbox, changes are a lot smoother, I like it

Yesterday I was using Carly and swear I saw this under the transmission section but I will check again. I have made contact with the BimmerCode author to request the code and will post it here when he responds.

This is just enabling sports auto for people who have the standard auto gearbox. It won't do anything thing for 90% of people as most already have sports auto

Changes are smoother and a bit earlier.

Seem to get a bit more economy

Had mine done at the same time as a remap - apparently suits the higher power etc better

I take this back. I have had some of my best coding friends look into it and sadly it cannot be done. Sorry to disappoint.

Not that interested in a remap due to the insurance implications. I suppose I should mention a gearbox flash but that doesn't improve performance so I don't think it's necessary. Plus, what are the chances they'd find it anyway

was gonna say didnt think it was possible as you need to flash the EGS with the Alpina software which can only be done if you have the fully version PDZ.

that said other than the numbers on dash for D1 D2 and using 8th in Sport mode there isnt really a difference. those that notice a difference is a placebo of having the reset the gearbox which make it learn again and seem tighter and smoother.

shame cos i would of had it for a reasonable price but tuners want £100 for something that is Free and simple to do. i just dont have the balls to do it my self

pretty obvious for any BMW personal who got in the car and saw D1 when selecting Drive
