also very important is the sensor angle , if has to be facing straight ( not up and not down ) . 100% flat , must be 0 degree angle when it is installed on the bumper .

since you have M3 LCI ,, do you already have PMA from factory or also retrofitting now ?

edit : looking closely at your pic , the X marking is too high .

Yes I already have PDC & PMA but I'm adding the two extra rear-side sensors for the added PMA2 functionality. Your feedback is much appreciated!

cool , I'm trying to find a genuine CAFD file of PMA2 module from LCI M3 to compare with my CAFD file , trying to understand how PMA2 works in LCI M3 without the rear PMA sensors .

if you have esys ( even without token ) then it's easy to read the CAFD file ( coding file ) of your PMA2 module , appreciate it if you can post it here .

I've done few PMA1 and PMA2 retrofits so if you need any help , let me know .

PMA1 and PMA2 both works on NBT and NBT evo .

offcourse some manual coding for the headunit sometimes is necessary .

technically that's what you need , in reality you need more than that to achieve it .

read my post above reading the sensor direction , F31 even with M rear bumpers still don't have the right angle for the PMA sensors.

for front PDC , remember to add 2 extra wires when you run the harness from front to the back of the car , 2 extra wires are the signal wires of the PMA front sensors

it has nothing to do with M or non M bumper , no matter what you have , the PRE LCI bumpers in F30 and F31 have wrong angle in the area where the rear PMA sensors location , for people with no knowledge of fabrication i advice to buy LCI rear bumper .

Rear PMA sensors are normal PDC sensors exactly like the normal front and rear PDC sensors .

Is it necessary to change the bumper to the LCI model? I think I'll just go only install on the front bumper.

I like perfections , Offcourse you Don't need to change the rear bumper , but if you really looking for OEM fully functional PMA2 system which can detect every single parking spot then you need to make sure that the rear PMA sensors are installed and facing the exact direction as the front ones , ( 100% Horizontal ) .

you can simply drill a 18mm hole and stick the sensor in it , but good luck with PMA not working properly .

I am waiting for Zermatt feedback to get his coding file of his OEM PMA and compare with LCI non M car so see the how PMA module handle the missing rear 2 PMA sensors .

I have a new problem. I fooled myself to stick the PMA sensors forward and I punched the camera zone instead of the sensor zone. now I have to buy new bumper.

just swap left bracket to right and right to left , i know someone did the same mistake and I advised him to try that and he did it successfully .

some fabrications is needed but possible .

Hi. I'm doing this retrofit in a F48 X1, when I plugged in the front harness, ISTA says that theres a shortcircuit in the front PDC. I connected the parking assistant sensors as you did, using bmw fast connectors. I checked and the positive wire in the front connectors, doesnt show any voltage. I suppose that It may send some Signal when the gear is in D, isn't it? In the other way I think that although it is named in esys as PMA2, the ECU it's prepared only for rear PDC and that would be the problem. Any help? F48 differs than F30 that one ECU controls front, rear PDC and PMA

that is PMA Version1 which was fitted in PRE-LCI cars , PMA version2 which is fitted in LCI models has input for rear PMA sensors as well ,

we are talking about PMA2 in the last few months of this thread .

The diagram thats added on the topic is an lci diagram and it has no rear pma but rear pdc. The pma first gen has no additional pma or pdc on the rear

pma1 has 4 front pdc 2 front pma and 4 rear pdc
pma2 has 4 front pdc 2 front pma and 6 rear pdc
