Is this normal?

In Sport or Comfort and S Mode it will shift auto and normally as it should.
When using Stage 3 in Sport+ mode with shifter in M/S mode it will set you up into race/roll racing mode. Meaning it wont auto up shift and will hold every gear to red line. Also, it will downshift you to the lowest gear possible upon initiating those settings.

read up on the description on the app for each stage because it does say, "Re-calibrated S/Sport+ mode for Roll-racing and race track use. Transmission keeps the engine in the upper rev range all the time..."

I noticed the shifts can be very harsh at times as well in D mode. I had it in sport and sport + just fyi.

However move the shifter into S mode and it behaves a lot better. How it should in the first place. I'm going to try stage 1 to see if it helps with the terrible drivability of stage 2 in D mode. Hope they come up with some updates.
We don't need 2500rpm to drive in the city, that's why in D gears upshift early. When I need more power I just move to S and it downshift instantly.

Shouldn't be a down grade if you spend $350.
I think you probably should have done more research before purchasing. These changes are documented decently well.

Btw, the shift point editor is available now, so you can tweak the shift points in D and S mode individually within the app.

I tried stage one and that feels really good. Back to how I’d expect it to be. In sport mode around town it stays in 5th whereas stage 2 loafs around in 8th. If I can change that with the shift points I might try. Just giving a 100% honest review.

Was wondering the same thing. Probably from too many people flashing stage 3 without reading and then complaining. Hopefully they make a stage 4 map?
I personally don't use the stage 3 map because comfort mode manual shifting was harsh on downshifts.

which trans turned out to be better overall from xhp. The 6 speed or the 8 speed zf???? my 135i with zf6 is a monster with xhp stage 3 crazy downshift blips and upshifts extremely fast.... Keep in mind my 6at has only about 30k miles on it as it was replaced by bmw cpo and i changed the fluid at 20k so maybe thats why it feels so good.. I xhp'd a friends 6at and sad to say his felt nothing like mine did, his shifted much slower so wear and tear does play a major role...

Thumbs up xHP torque limiter

Check this out!

I am blown away by how well this works!!!

I set the torque limiter to 221 ftlb/300 nm in 1-4 gear. See how well it manages and the power delivery is butter smooth

Interesting. How did you choose your values Harkes? Doesn't feel too boggy or slow?

Just turned them all the way down for testing purpose. Dont think I'll be using this - I like my car to be a little squirmy when boost hits in 4th

This could be very very useful in actually utilizing launch control for nearly all of us modded F3x's. When I went FBO, launch control was utterly useless as the drastic increase in power from the upgrades would have my tires spinning no matter how many times I tried launching. Even with the upgraded LSD, I can't seem to quite keep 100% of the power down to the wheels. Running MPSS tires and still no bueno. Will try to tinker with this in the next few weeks to see if I can find that sweet spot for every gear in order to actually make launch control useable.
I'm putting my M performance LSD in by the end of this week, then hopefully getting xHP soon; I'm xdrive but flashed RWD at the moment. How are you liking everything you've done so far?

You are better off launching without launch control with RWD FBO. What work's the best for me is to had medium pressure on brake pedal with left foot, floor it right right foot, and as soon as you feel the car start to move release the brake. You dont really want to brake boost (i.e., hold the car back with the brakes) - its more like preventing the car from rolling while the engine gets up to around 1500 rpm before releasing the brake. With a stock turbo car the turbo is already spooling at this point, so you are getting pretty much the hardest (traction-limited) launch you can).

I have 255 PS4S (basically MPSS) and on a clean dry road i spin first a little but it doesn't blow the tires off like using actual launch control. If you have XHP you can also try launching in 2nd.

Is there any way to turn race mode back on with the settings? I really like the idea of stage 3 with trans in sport mode to auto downshift to lowest possible gear. Its great for roll racing.

Why is it, our cars can make massive tq on the dyno, but are limited in datalogs and on the road..

Is this because of the non load bearing dyno most of us use?

Yes there is a stage 4 that does exactly what your suggesting.

I set custom launch control to 25% / 25% but rear tire was spinning too much that I actually lose time. Any recommendation on the settings?

Car is 335i f30 RWD.

Very simple solution - you have to tune numbers lower until your wheels will not spin, or a little bit. Also try to limit 1 gear torque.

You can also try launching in 2nd.

Or, do what i do with RWD, and don't use launch control. Basically just do your own launch. Left foot on the brake with moderate pressure, floor it with right foot and let off the brake about 0.5-1sec later. You dont want to actually hold the car back with the brake like with launch control, you just want to prevent the car from moving while you "stall" the converter and get the rpm up slightly. Stock turbo will make boost at 1500 rpm, which is about where you get using this method. If you have good tires you should only spin a little on the street with FBO + tune.

Yup. I got back to my "manual" launch and actually worked better. That half-pedal thing is a hit and miss tho...still keen to find the best setting between the two sliders...

What does torque scaling do anyway?
