i guess the 2015 F30 LCI will take care of these.
Mine has those same dimples....

Gorgeous looking car Matt. Love the clean look of the front end now that the reflectors have been painted.

Presumably you don't have to fix a front licence plate in AZ? Wish the UK was the same.

thx PrinceBarin! no front plates required in AZ, now that is a reason to move across the pond.

i have received a lot of questions about the installation of the painted reflectors. i have attached a pic of the reflectors before installation, as you can see there is a pull tab in the corner. around the reflector is a strong adhesive, so you will pull the tab and remove the sticker covering right before you install.

step 1
Drive around for a little while and let everything get hot. (This will make it MUCH easier to remove the reflector). to install you must turn your steering wheel so that your wheel is pointing toward the inside of your car; exposing the front side wheel well. then remove a couple of screws holding the wheel well. after you remove a couple you will be able to pull it back enough to get behind the wheel well.

step 2
Use "Goo-Gone" / 3M remover / "Oops"... now, apply the 3M remover to the outside of the reflector around the edges and also behind the reflector, behind the bumper. I used "Oops" and just squirted it all around the reflector and it worked like magic. from behind the reflector pry around the factory reflector and also press on it from the outside of the car.

step 3
Now, just SLOWLY push the reflector in (from outside the bumper). Start from the left of the reflector and work your way to the right, slowly pushing the reflector in. You can repeat step 2 as many times as you want to loosen up the 3M tape even more. after it removes wipe down any excess goo gone, get it dry on the inside of the opening. finally, pull the tab on the new painted reflector and press into place - obviously it is installed from the inside of the car. reinstall the wheel well and then repeat on the other side.

Did you take any pics of the install? I remember on the E92 you didn't need to remove any screws in the wheel well.

sorry i did not take pics.

you are correct, i had an e92 and the reflector was not behind the wheel well. the F30 is similar installation as the e92, but you have to get behind the wheel well.

when I did this on my E46 M-3, the reflector was on a spring clip. does this appear to be spring loaded ?

To clarify, you used the OOPS on the OEM reflector to loosen its factory adhesive then pushed it out from behind. Is the pressure on the front side from the opposite side you are pushing out from behind.

Love the look. Hope to do the same when my AW 335 arrives.

it is not spring loaded or have any clips, it's just held on with adhesive.

push from outside of the car and the reflector will fall behind the bumper.

The painted reflectors look fantastic.

Is there any way to accomplish something similar (at least get rid of the ugly yellow/amber color) while still keeping the car legal in the USA? The problem is not so much the possibilty of a ticket, or failing a safety inspection, rather it's the potential liabilty in an accident.

liability in an accident? i can't think of a situation where the painted reflector can be used against you in court? that is like saying illegally tinted windows would make you liable in an accident because you couldn't see as well...because of the darkened glass.

you must be either an Engineer (like me) or a Lawyer.
