Question 2014 X-Drive F30 Base Model

I've been looking for summer wheels and tires so I can use the stock 17" with my Blizzak tires on my factory 17". I've read this thread but there are so many options I want to be sure they'll fit with issues.

Will these work without rubbing and not effect odometer/speedometer?

front and rear 8.5x19" 235/40 ET32-35

Or are offset a better option?

9.5x19" 275(265 or 255) /35 for the rear, I've seen discrepancies from different post that 265 or 255 are better choices?

Thanks in advance for any help, suggestions.

John

I have an F31 RWD, lowered, not sure by how much as the previous owner had it done, supposedly by BMW.

It came with summer 235/35R19 ET34 front 8.5"x19" and 265/30R19 ET47 rear 9.5"x19". And a worn set of square winter tyres 205/55R16 on steel rims 7"x16" ET?? that I would like to replace with 18" wheels.

I bought a secondhand square set of 662 replicas 18"x8" ET30 with 245/45R18 tyres fitted, but I think they are too tall i.e. they should be 245/40R18 (or 235 or 225) as the car is lowered ? I.e. will they rub ?

If the 245/45R18 don't rub then presumably I could also increase the ride height on the summer tyres, when they need replacing, to 235/40R19 & 265/35R19 to improve the ride ? I am also not so keen on the stretched look of the front tyre in particular.

245/45R18 on 8 x18 fit

245/45R18 on 8 x18 fit without rubbing, but it is close on the front side of the front wheel.

See pics. of front and rear and summer rear 265/30R19 in comparison.

BTW the speedo error is corrected with the 245/45R18.

Need tire fitment

The rear wheels however are 11mm more aggressive than the front. To get a more equal fitment front and rear you might like ro add spacers up front (5mm).

The tire sizes are 2% shorter than OEM. This means increased wheel gap, increased speedometer error and less comfort. I recommend to go up one step in tire profile, i.e. 235/40-19 front and 265/35-19 rear!
I got a set of wheels from my friend vff103 F:19x8.5 ET30 R:19x10 ET40 but Im confusing the fitment for wheels. 245-40R19// 275-35R19 OR 235-40R19//265-35R19 which one will be better since the road condition is not good around my house.

Can anyone help identify what style wheels these are and which car they came in stock? Supposed to be a 9x19 and 10x19 setup. Considering this for my F34. TIA!

I've read through the entire thread and haven't seen the same example as a set of wheels I am looking at.
Does anyone know if the following would be ok for an F31 xDrive?
Front: 8.5 x 19 + 245/35/19
Rear: 9.5 x 19 + 265/35/19

Is this within tolerances?

No, as the difference in diameter is 1.9% and you need to stay within 1% (the smaller diameter difference the better): https://tiresize.com/calculator/

235/40/19 + 265/35/19 would be perfectly fine.

Interesting photos - I have 225/45R18s on my F31 Touring and just bought (on impulse on Craigslist) a set of 245/45R18 rims fitted in snow tires. I didn't notice they were 245s and not 225s like my OEM treads. When I got home it was obvious the 245's were beefier and so I mounted the front pair to see if I had clearance issues. Like in your pictures, they really fill up the wheel wells, but don't touch - at least on level, dry road. I'm worried about fitment in snow and ice when the wheel wells start filling up.

Depends on your rim width, offset and the tire fitted; when in tolerances, the 245/45/18 is 26.7" diameter, which is perfectly fine. If it does not rub the inner wheel wells at full lock (it shouldn't), no problem. As a side effect, this setup makes your car a bit lifted, which possibly ain't a bad thing on the snow.

I only mounted the tires on the front just to check the clearances. No problem in 100° summer. Looks kinda tight for -5° winter with slush, snow and ice all over the road.

But just looking at it from the side - does sit up proud and looks like it's trying to grow up to be an X3!

Thanks! I found another thread where an F30 owner ran 437M which is the same offset as the 666M. Only difference is diameter but the lower profile 20 tires make it essentially the same. It's definitely doable for an F30 to run M wheels.

hi there
I have an F30 335i lowered by 20mm on Bilstien B8 with H&R sport springs.
I'm looking to buy a set of BBS CI-R in 19".
I would like to get the most concave look I can get without issues like rubbing or sticking out.
I was thinking about the following setup:
19x8.5 et35
19x9.5 et40
the thing is, I have a legal limitation on tires. The widest i can install is 225 front and 255 rear. Since I dont like streched tires, I don't think there are other options.
I know 225 on a 8.5 rim is a bit of a strerch, but if I go with an 8, it will be less concave, and I don't want that either.
So, do you think the option I listed is OK? do you see other options?

BTW, this thread is great. I read most of the messages. Big thumbs up, especially to .BMW for helping everyone.

Hello,
Ive got F31 330d just rwd. I can buy 4 same bbs wheels for a really good price with size 8J x 20 5/120 ET36 which fits officially only for front part of car. Rear ones should be 8.5 x 20 ET47.
Is it even possible to put 4x same wheels of this size without problems or should i leave it even if its really good buy ?

I don't see any reason, why they shouldn't fit... If you want a flush fit, you need to add ~12 mm spacers (both front and rear). The negative is that 245 mm is the widest tire recommended for 8" rim.

Hi guys, sorry I am new to cars in general. I have a F30 318d 2013 (not a xdrive) MSport. I want to upgrade to 19 inch rims.

I found some which are 19 inch:

Front: 8.5j et35
Rear: 9.5j et38

What tyres would you recommend I buy with these for best fitment? This is my first BMW so not fully sure. I don't want runflats.

I own a 2014 F30 328I xdrive, and I wanted to make my car look more aggressive. So, I installed negative camber on the suspension system. I am very pleased with it, the car is driving better at high speed. I have Bridgestone Turanza QuietTrack, size 225/45/18 for all wheels. I recommend using them. I've read more about suspension on https://low-offset.com/workshop/unde...-wheel-offset/. You can find useful information for you in order to decide about what tires to buy. A lot of different opinions, but in practice, I see that negative camber is better for my car.
