Fuel additive/cleaner
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good fuel additive for my 78k mile 420d? Do you think it would help with mpg and engine noise etc? Thanks, Jeff |

Millers Oils and Archoil both have good reputations. I've used both and they both noticeably reduced engine harshness with my 30d.
These types of additives tend to have very similar formulations, so as long as it's a well known brand they should be fine.

I have been using Stanadyne Performance 8oz for years in a 2008 Jeep CRD, 2012 Ram Cummins and now a 2018 328d. The bottle size is convenient and the bottle does not leak when you use only half.

I too can vouch for Standyne. My 328d had a stumble when the engine was started 1st thing in the morning. Asked a 335d friend of mine, and that’s what he recommended. Cleared up the stumble immediately. Months later the stumble resurfaced and Standyne was used again. Haven’t had an driveability issue since.

It would be nice if anyone had any before/after pictures.
I can not imagine if this additives really help anything. People always state it helps with engine sounds. But maybe thats just a psychological thing. Sometimes i buy premium diesel from gas station and right after driving out of the gas station it feels like the engine runs smoother But that must be placebo |
