Anyone try this AFE Intake scoop?

Anyone try the aFe Power Magnum FORCE 54-12218 BMW 328i (F30) Intake System Scoop

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008PQSRV0/

It probalby doesn't make any difference, but was wondering if anyone bought one and can testify to the contrary.

Myself and others have tried it. I can't really speak to the differences, as something like that is harder to measure. That being said, the concept and physics behind it are sensible, so for me, it was one of those "Why not?" moments. Cheap and not too hard to install. I also wanted to ensure I had enough airflow for the bigger turbo.

My only concern with that scoop would be moisture ingestion. The OEM intake path is off the side, so water would hit the radiator, with this scoop it would go straight into the intake if the water spray is fine enough.

Have the scoop... definitely recommend it. As said above... why not for $50?

Is it possible that its directs LESS airflow into the intake!?!? No, its not. Its likely that it is indeed grabbing MORE air than without. Cant hurt, can only help.

This scoop makes me nervous. Prolonged spray into the kidney grilles during car washes could fill the airbox and route water deep into the intake. It's obvious to not do so, but mistakes happen.

I've had mine in for a while and through several car washes with no issues of water getting back there. I feel like that if it did, it'd drain out just as easily. I'm dropping off my car today for a warranty claim and when I get it back, I'll wash it and open up my intake right after to see if I have any pooling or misting.

I am on my second one of these !
Ok, I forgot and left the first one on my lease return car.
For my new car, I got the carbon fiber one. Yea, I know you cannot see it but,
I will remember to take it off next time, if I don’t decide to buy this car, 320i w/sport suspension. Really love it !
This scoop just makes sense to me. The air flow is coming in past the inlet, which is on the side, not getting direct flow. The scoop helps get a more stronger flow, and I imagine that it would help keep some of the heat off the radiator out of the air .

Researching this modification. Seems like a no brainer with regard to forcing more cold air...right up until I was thinking about all the snow storms I drive in. Anyone have and use this in winter/ snow climates care to comment on whether they get snow packed into their air filter?
