Yesterday I picked up my 2012 Glacier Silver 335i Sport Line.
TIMELINE (Munich build) 1. Ordered: April 17th 2. Production Started: April 26th 3. Completion: May 10th 4. Shipped from Factory: May 14th 5. Loaded on Ship (The Medea): May 17th 6. Arrived in Halifax by ship: May 28th 7. Arrived in Concord via Rail: June 2nd 8. Delivered to Dealership (via Hansen's Trucking): June 5th 9. I picked her up at Dealership: June 8th! Initial Impressions after 400km of driving (in just under 24 hours of having it, I will add a more detailed review later): 1. Car looks MUCH better from all angles in real life than in photos. 2. Interior red stitching, gloss black, red line across the dash also look fantastic in real life, not offensive at all and very sporty yet refined. 3. The sound and grunt of the 335i is unmatched and worth every penny difference (I know my sister ordered a 328i and I've driven hers back to back), if you can afford it over the 328i get the 335i. Sound at start-up, idle, part throttle, full throttle, the pop between gears when shifting, the very audible blow off valve...AMAZING! I drive down the street and people turn to see what's coming! I had my brother drive it by me while I stood on the sidewalk and the engine and exhaust sounds are intoxicating! The exhaust and pop between shifts could still be heard when he was so far away all I could see where the taillights in the distance. The sounds and blow off valve could also be heard when he looped around the block...i.e. he was on the street one street over from my house and I could hear it clearly coming around the block! 4. The sport suspension (passive) is also worth every penny of the $400 it costs in Canada (I know it's free with Sport Line in the US). Smooth and comfortable driving around in any mode, amazing handling with little to no body roll and the 10mm difference in ride height makes the car look noticeable lower/better. (again side by side with my sister's 328i). 5. GLACIER SILVER IS STUNNING! Incredibly beautiful, sporty and expensive looking. It's the best all around colour (my sister has jet black, my brother's F10 535i is Alpine White and we've had all 3 side by side). I will take comparison photos with those 2 cars as soon as we get a chance. 6. Quiet a few people in slower city driving have had their heads turned from the looks and/or sound of the 335i with a few 'whoa, wow, nice car man' comments thrown in. 7. Took a cruise in my work parking garage and the sound of engine, exhaust and blow off valve bouncing off the walls was intoxicating! Reminded me of the pleasure I used to take with my 9000rpm S2000 in that very same garage. 8. The Sport Line 18" rims are FAR BETTER looking in real life than in pictures. They are absolutely perfect for this vehicle, pictures don't do them justice (I'm sure the lower sport suspension helps them look even better). Please let me know if you have any specific questions and I will try and answer them. These photos are just what I could snap with my iPhone to give everyone a view of Glacier Silver with the sport rims and passive sport suspension in both daylight and night time. Also tried to get a video of the car/colour at night and the sport line rims in motion. Last edited by RASHID007; 06-11-2012 at 08:22 PM.. |

Congrats. Silver is a fantastic colour for the F30. Had a E90 in silver and I found that a bit boring, the F30 is something else in silver.
Nice enthusiastic writeup. Yeah, the sound of the engine/exhaust is almost racey for such a classy car. Neighbours asked me if I had an aftermarket exhaust or I did something to tune the engine. I said no this is just a stock 335i sport. When I start the car in my garage it's almost Nascar like. Cheers Robin |

Sweet ride man! Silver is the historical colour on German racing cars, much like white is for Japanese and Green for British.
The 335 is truly intoxicating.

if you haven't do so already : TINT !!!!
CONGRATS ON SUCH A NICE 335I! love the color, goes very well on the F30... i think because there has been so many silver cars up until now, people got "bored" with it, and bought F30 with other colors... and so the Glacier Silver is a bit unpopular right now... but this is a mistakes, because the F30 is wearing silver and making it more sexy than any cars before it! (a bit of an exageration but still) I was hesitating between IB-GS-AW-and Havana! you should have gone with the 19's

Congrats, looks great. You really have me second guessing my choice of Alpine White; the Glacier Silver looks particularly nice in that nighttime video. I had been leaning towards AW from the beginning because my current car is silver as a second choice (I wanted white, but couldnt find a white one with a MT at the time so I went with silver) and as DrivenByE30 mentioned, it seems like silver cars are so common these days...but it seems like on the F30 forums, AW is a crazy popular color while silver seems relatively unique. After seeing your pics and video, I'm really beginning to wonder if I should change my order for GS.
