I thought that had more to do with the m3 control arm upgrade rather than lowering as there are plenty of lowered xdrive cars on springs/coilovers who havent had any issues. only when you have to dial in the alignment due to the control arms or whatever?

i don't know what the limit is but i've read being lowered puts extra stress on the front axle, where the lower you go equals more potential for failure.
