Kafas camera
Hi guys,
Im picking up a 3 series From 2016 next week. It has the high beam assist which makes me wonder if that means that the windshield will have the Kafas camera installed which could potentially let me enable SLI and lane assist by coding ? Or would I need additional parts ? |

Depends on what other options it has. If it doesn't have lane departure warning, forward collision warning or SLI already active, it will have a simple HBA camera in the mirror assembly.

but it's probably just the HBA camera then. So for SLI for instance I would have to retrofit the kafas camera then ? |

Not necessarily, it depends on how accurate you want the information to be. Depending on whether your can has a navigation system (and if the maps have speed limit info) you can get an emulator fitted that pulls the speed data off of the maps and outputs them to the cluster/HUD. The downside of this solution is that it will not pick up temporary speed limits or recently changed ones (but then again you don't have to fit a new windscreen, camera etc).
