Best Scan Tool for F30 328D

Hello,

I am new to BMW's but not new to the automotive diagnostic world. I just bought a 2014 328D Xdrive and want to get a diagnostic tool for it and when I do searches online, the recommendations are all over the place. So I wanted to get some input on here to see what all of you are using.

Would like it to be a general diagnostic scan tool along with the capability to data log and do some coding.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Schwaben is on sale now:

It's functionally the same as the Foxwell NT510, so shop for price. But as for coding diagnostic tools don't do that. You need Carly or Bimmercode, which also do some but not all diagnostics.

Carly is now subscription based, right? That is not that good.

So if it comes down to price, which is better, the Schwaben or the Foxwell NT510? Seems the Foxwell is cheaper but I want to make sure I get the better scanner.

Thanks

It's the same scanner, different color. Got to love it when companies give a Chinese item a European name to imply a different continent of origin. It's hardly an isolated incident.

You'll need this to start.
Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XGB4873...p_mob_ap_share.

Then download these apps for coding and reading/clearing codes....
bimmer code
BimmerCode for BMW and Mini by Stephan Gauch https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bimm...130787459?mt=8
And to read/clear codes
BimmerLink for BMW and Mini by Stephan Gauch https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bimm...065360416?mt=8
This is what I use and I love them both. I paid 95.00 to have my last car coded and this by far the superior way to do it.
