Video- BimmerTech MMI Rear View Camera, Front View Camera and Smart View Install/Demo
Hey Everyone,
Looking to add a rear or front camera to your car that integrates with the factory iDrive Screen?? How about a system that mirrors your phone on your factory iDrive screen?? I've had people ask me about this on my YouTube Channel (KiesMotorsports), so here it is! Check out our newest videos, where we do a full install of the BimmerTech MMI Rear View Camera, Front View Camera and SmartView on an F30! BimmerTech Features and Demo BimmerTech Full Installation: If you have questions, let me know at bryan@kiesmotorsports.com, let BimmerTech know at info@bimmer-tech.net or visit www.bimmer-tech.net Thanks, Bryan |

Can you stream music from your phone using the smart-view kit?
Edit: One more question, can you not add a password to the smart-view WiFi?

I'll double check, but I believe with Apple you have to plug into the Aux port to play audio through the car speakers while using SmartView. It's an Apple limitation. I believe Android allows you to stream Bluetooth audio while using SmartView, but I'll double check that for you... |

Audio streaming is done using WIFI connection from your phone to smartview. Smartview needs to be connected to aux port, regardless if you have a android or iOS device.

@OP: Thanks for the demo. I have been considering buying the smartview kit. After watching your demo, I decided not to buy it because of the 2-3 seconds lag. My intended use for the smartview is Waze and 2-3 seconds lag is just nah nah to me.

I'm a little confused about the lag. In the first 2 videos there's clearly a delay of 2-3 seconds, and in this thread 2 users mention lag making Waze unusable:
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1224017 I wrote Bimmertech about it and got a reply that the lag may be caused by Bimmertech's first gen Smartview devices running on 2.4GHz, but they've since swithced to 5GHz. They also sent this link to demonstrate the responsiveness of the 5GHz device - and clearly in this video the lag is second to none - at least when browsing thru pics on the phone (fast forward to 1.18): http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1254853 I really, really want this (for the sole purpose of mirroring navigation) - but with a 2-3 second delay it just won't fulfill that purpose. Anyone who can shed some light on the lag (or lack thereof) issue - please comment. |

Thank you - appreciate it. Looking forward to your post.
I also asked momoboy in his thread about his experience with nav apps, so for anyone else interested, please keep an eye on that thread as well: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1254853 |
