Nice one. I have 3 bottles of 20 year old in the cellar (read shed) that are at least 10 years old so I'm not far behind the 40 year old.

Admittedly the ones I am buying are for Christmas / New Year. Anyone living in Cambridgeshire, needs to go to Stives and pop to Wadsworths, really big Wine, Spirits merchant, quality stuff, really worth a trip This was my local http://www.wadsworthwines.co.uk Nice little tour. http://www.wadsworthwines.co.uk/shoptour/ Last edited by ....,,,,..,,..; 11-28-2015 at 12:30 PM.. |

Currently having some Caol Ila just now I got a bit 'used' to speysides having lived there for 10 years and family from there. Obviously I like them, just prefer Islay ones |

I'd recommend; 12yr old Doublewood Balvenie 12yr old Glenlivet Both a very smooth, first class whisky.

I must have tried all of the Islay whiskys at some point over the years. Similarly the Speyside ones. One of the benefits of covering the whole of Scotland with work. I posted a photo or two the other day in the 'autumn' photos thread which was taken just a few miles from the Tomintoul, Tomnavoulin and Glenlivet distilleries.

Both 50% or greater. They would finish me off for sure. I had a couple of Ardbeg whiskys at our office xmas dinner last year. I managed to get home, just!!

We have a really good shop near us in Nottingham that I'm a regular at, latest purchase was this... http://theyamazaki.jp/en/product/ the 18y/o
I'd heard a lot about how Japanese whiskey was winning every award going and had to find out for myself, it's a great drop, very individual taste but well worth it. I have a flat near the whisky experience in Ayr (Scotland) and even in there they are hailing Yamazaki. |
